Job Summary of Marketing Director

This role is responsible for leading client-specific media strategy for key accounts, providing senior leadership and expertise across all media channels, both online and offline. This role collaborates with client and agency leadership to enhance current strategies or develop new strategies for prospective clients. This role ensures flawless execution of advertising programs, provides strategic insights, and develops high-performing media teams.

Job Duties and Responsibilities of Marketing Director:

  • Develop custom marketing programs based on client challenges, audiences, markets, competitive trends, and consumer insights.
  • Lead media strategy for new business development and collaborate with stakeholders during the new business process.
  • Establish benchmarks for success internally and externally, overseeing strategy, campaign creation, budget management, optimization, and testing across multi-platform campaigns.
  • Identify relevant media and data partners to enhance media plans for each client.
  • Drive innovation with agency partners to evolve media strategies and incorporate insights from advanced analytics.
  • Stay current on media trends, competitive landscape, and vendor capabilities, and develop perspectives on new media products.
  • Lead client calls, prepare QBR strategy content, and support case study development.
  • Provide team leadership, including mentoring, training, accountability, and workload management.
  • Implement operational best practices and support new client onboarding efforts.

Qualifications and Experience of Marketing Director:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; relevant experience may substitute.
  • 7–10+ years of experience in agency environments or channel partnerships, including 3+ years in a management or supervisory role.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills for interacting with clients, vendors, and internal teams.
  • Proven ability to recruit, retain, and manage top talent, and handle personnel issues effectively.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
  • Experience managing multiple simultaneous short- and long-term projects with sound judgment and prioritization.
  • Working knowledge of third-party media research tools, including Nielsen, MRI, Scarborough, Media Radar, DoubleClick, and YouGov.
  • Experience building client presentations and pitching upsell opportunities.
  • Deep understanding of media planning, distribution, and content syndication.
  • Proven ability to lead client-facing initiatives and foster strong internal and external relationships.
  • Skilled in analyzing data to drive actionable, sales- and marketing-oriented decisions.
  • Strategic thinker with creativity, problem-solving skills, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of media strategy, performance-based marketing, analytics, ROI, and planning across all channels.
  • Ability to develop, manage, and optimize paid media plans to meet business objectives.
  • Strong leadership, team development, and mentorship skills, with a focus on accountability and performance.
  • Exceptional presentation, storytelling, and written communication skills.

Salary

$120,000 – $155,650 annually, depending on experience, knowledge, and market conditions.
