Summary
This short contract position will have a big impact on Providence Health Care's innovation projects, it is a great opportunity to work with internal and external healthcare innovators, working to enhance and support our innovation ecosystem. This role will focus on digital communications including website content development, writing, and developing strategic tools to promote awareness of and engagement in innovation initiatives.
The Marketing and Communications Specialist, Innovation reports to the Director Marketing Communications, Innovarium, and works collaboratively with the PHC Communications and Public Affairs department and Innovarium (Innovation Ecosystem) Teams on the development and implementation of several projects that create awareness of, and promote PHC innovation initiatives, internally and externally. These projects include digital content development for multiple innovation sites and newsletters, writing and sharing articles promoting awareness of innovation initiatives, developing marketing and communications tools and materials, and supporting innovation-related event planning and execution.
The Marketing and Communication Specialist strategically engages with key stakeholders including staff, physicians and researchers and makes strategic recommendations to improve marketing and communications initiatives to increase engagement and awareness, especially via digital channels include. The Marketing and Communciations Specialist works with innovation program leads to support and amplify their work, develop proactive content, and ensure that digital channels are kept up to date.

Qualifications / Skills and Education
QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Training and Experience
Bachelor degree in marketing, communications or related field, including coursework in marketing, digital marketing, communications and/or branding, plus a minimum of five (5) years of related experience developing and implementing digital communications initiatives in a health care or non-profit environment.
Skills and Abilities
- Skilled in navigating electronic medical records, pagers, and communication channels.
- Ability to work in a fast-pace environment, and the flexibility to learn and meet changing needs while remaining focused on long-term goals.
- Familiarity and understanding of innovation processes and the health care system is ideal.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver effective and innovative content and tools.
- Demonstrated ability in content development, digital marketing, and basic website development.
- Knowledge of SEO, SEM, web analytics, and digital reporting (such as Google Analytics, Google Data Studio).
- Familiarity with web technologies including HTML, CSS, wikis, image formats, streaming media, and search engines.
- Knowledge and demonstrated understanding of graphic design principles and a working proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite products including InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat, Flash.
- Ability to think creatively and use research and analytic skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency in project management and ability to complete multiple projects with competing deadlines.
- Demonstrated written and oral communication skills with proven ability to communicate with diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated ability in copy-editing, proofreading and preparing content for publications, documents, reports, and communication materials for mass distribution.
- Proficiency in event planning, coordination, and facilitation.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Working with the Innovarium and Communications teams, participates in the implementation of an overall communications plan for Innovarium, with a focus on digital communications but also includes marketing tool development, event planning and support, and general communications activities targeting internal and external innovators.
2. Develops and maintains digital content and tools aligned with Innovarium’s brand and priority projects, including web content and functionality, Newsletters and articles; and Innovarium’s brand presence across digital platforms.
3. Creates digital and print material, coordinates graphic design, and ensures quality control and brand consistency.
