Every day hundreds of families in the UK experience the heartbreak of baby loss, a trauma that is both common and misunderstood. Left unsupported, the experience can lead to increased mental health problems and the breakdown of relationships. Petals is the UK’s leading provider of free, specialist counselling for parents affected by any type of baby loss. Petals Counselling is specifically designed to help parents process their trauma and grief and move forward in a healthy way.

The number of parents we support is growing at pace – more than 2,000 a year - but so is demand. Unfortunately this means we turn away many bereaved parents too. Our strategy is focused on sustainable growth, through securing more partnerships with hospitals and increasing our charitable income.

About the role

As our new Communications and Marketing Manager, your creativity, high quality communications and drive will play a fundamental role in helping us achieve this growth. You will deliver a communications and marketing strategy that will:

  • continue to elevate Petals’ reputation as experts in our field
  • grow awareness of what we do and why it matters, to key influencers including healthcare professionals, potential donors and of course, parents who may need our counselling
  • encourage support of our charity.

We are looking for someone with broad experience as the role will be varied and will include working on campaigns, producing content, media relations, overseeing our digital communications, internal communications and production of materials. You will understand the importance of knowing who your audience is and why the brand voice matters for a charity like Petals.

We’re after a brilliant writer and storyteller, with a strategic and creative mind and proactive, positive approach. If you’re comfortable editing video, please let us know.

You’ll be joining a small, ambitious and warm team, where your ideas will be championed and you will really see the difference you make to parents who need us in the months and years ahead. You will be well supported by the Head of Fundraising and Communications and will line manage a Digital Communications Coordinator.
