DESCRIPTION

Amazon Leo is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will deliver fast, reliable internet to customers and communities beyond the reach of existing networks.

As a UX Designer II, you will be a valuable member of Amazon Leo’s Customer Devices Experiences team, and will define and design exceptional user experiences that delight our customers across the globe. You will deliver beautiful and compelling user interface designs that will be used by customers across various market segments and industries.

As a UX Designer, you will own defining the user journey and user experience for a collection of use cases that span multiple product interfaces and device form factors.

A successful candidate will be curious, creative, highly analytical and be able to work autonomously to drive impact as part of a large growing cross-functional team (product and program managers, software and hardware engineers, business development and marketing managers and industrial designers). We are looking for a designer who is a systems-thinker and highly-skilled at establishing and/or utilizing design systems as part of the design workflow.

The ideal candidate is customer-obsessed and has experience collecting user insights and feedback to validate designs. Designers who have experience conducting generative and evaluative research (interviews, observational studies, contextual inquiry, usability testing, accessibility audits, etc.), and who are adept at leading internal and external design workshops and design discovery activities are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate must be capable of synthesizing a variety of inputs into experiences and designs that customers love!

Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Key job responsibilities

  • Design customer journey flows and low, medium and high-fidelity user interface mockups/wireframes.
  • Lead cross-functional design review meetings for input and sign-off on design artifacts.
  • Create design briefs, proposals, reports and executive summaries as needed to keep the product team and Amazon Leo's leadership team informed of design opportunities and design progress.
  • Provide design clarification and consultation as needed to engineers when UX features are being developed.
  • Provide design assets (product screen flows, user guidelines/explainers, etc.) as needed to the Amazon Leo Marketing Team to be used on external-facing Amazon Leo website and other promotional materials.
  • Participate and provide input in product change control processes post-launch.
  • Experience in delivering design solutions for projects of large scope and complexity and a track record of leading design projects that have launched.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of design experience
  • 3+ years of delivering design solutions as a UX designer or interaction designer experience
  • Have an available online portfolio
  • Experience prototyping (HTML, XHTML, JavaScript, CSS, Flash or Flash Catalyst, or Axure)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2+ years of mass-market consumer web / mobile products experience
  • Experience working in a collaborative team and working directly with developers for implementation of designs

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $106,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $184,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
