E-commerce Automation Specialist (Make / n8n + JavaScript) Long Term Part Time - Contract to Hire

1) What are we looking for

We are looking for a Make.com / n8n Automation Specialist with a strong JavaScript background.

This is a freelance, project-based role with a small monthly workload for monitoring and troubleshooting, plus separate upgrade projects.

You will help us stabilize, extend, and scale our automation and reporting systems.

Weekly hours: Flexible, minimum 1–2 hours/week on average

(includes ~4 hours/month monitoring + project-based upgrade hours)

4) Your Responsibilities

Monitor and troubleshoot the existing Make / n8n automations (~4 hours per month)

Improve system stability (timeouts, retries, logging, alerts)

Build and maintain API-based automations using Make/n8n and JavaScript

Deliver project-based upgrades with clear documentation and handover

5) Project Roadmap (Planned Upgrades)

Step 1 — Data & Integrations

Add backend endpoints

365-day sales data, returns history, market price snapshots, daily/weekly margin model (4–6 hours)

Pagination to prevent Make.com timeouts (~3 hours)

Build 3 Make.com flows

Sales_Raw (INSERT_ROWS)

Returns_Raw

Market_Prices_Raw

Update aggregators and data formatting

Step 2 — Financial Model

Use Step-1 endpoints to calculate

Revenue, units, COGS, marketplace fees, shipping, refunds, profit per SKU, daily revenue (4–8 hours)

Calculate gross margin, net margin, and ROI (spreadsheet + validation)

Connect to the Exactly API (~4 hours)

Step 3 — Dashboards & Automated Decision Lists

Build dashboards: Sales / Returns / Margin / Ranking (8–16 hours)

Create automated daily decision lists

Low-stock alerts

Pricing alerts

ACOS / ROAS flags

Remark generation (8–16 hours)

6) What We Expect (Requirements/Experience)

Reliable PC and strong internet connection

2+ years experience with Make.com and/or n8n

Strong JavaScript skills for data transformation and API logic

Solid understanding of REST APIs, pagination, authentication, and error handling

Comfortable working with spreadsheets (Google Sheets / Excel)

7) Skills Test (Required for Shortlisted Candidates)

Assignment: Extract EAN-level P&L from the Latest Bol.com Invoice

You will build a small solution that calculates, for one EAN:

Total revenue

Total Bol.com commission / mediation fees

Total shipping / logistics costs

Other relevant invoice-related costs

Net result

Scope

Use an EAN

Fetch the latest Bol.com invoice via API

Fetch invoice specifications

Filter all lines related to the EAN

Aggregate revenue and costs

Output results in a spreadsheet (.xlsx, .csv, or Google Sheets)
