Contract Duration: 12 Months plus
Job Description
- Provide strategic oversight and direction for the agency’s projects funded under the CDC Public Health Infrastructure Grant (PHIG), focusing primarily on Strategy A3: Data Modernization. Key projects include but are not limited to: the modernization of the agency website, the implementation of a new licensing and certification database across various agency sectors (e.g., professional licensure, healthcare facilities licensure, food protection), enhancing interoperability capabilities for the immunizations information system, and improving electronic test orders and results (ETOR) for the state public health laboratory.
- Assist in the creation and execution of project timelines, ensuring efficient and timely progress.
- While the Director of Data Transformation does not manage the day-to-day execution of individual projects post-implementation, they will support project leaders as necessary, offering guidance and resources.
- Maintain consistent and effective communication with agency staff involved in the projects, emphasizing focus on project goals and deadlines. As required, develop and lead a team of support staff to aid in the management of data modernization initiatives.
Required Skills
- Proven experience overseeing all aspects of multifaceted data management and/or modernization projects, including planning, organizing, and budgeting.
- Strong communication abilities to collaborate effectively with colleagues involved in the collection, management, and development of agency data resources in pursuit of data modernization objectives.
- Experience operating within national data and IT security standards that govern the management and protection of sensitive health information.
- Proficient knowledge of data management, visualization, and analysis tools that facilitate the organization and sharing of various data forms.
- Experience engaging with diverse vendors of modern data management and analysis software, systems, and applications.
Preferred Skills
- Experience collaborating with or within government entities on data or IT-related projects, particularly regarding procurement and purchasing protocols.
- Familiarity with federal grant reporting and management requirements.
