Weekly Stipend: $1,540.00

Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week

Job Description

Join our team as a highly skilled CT Technologist at Aurora St Lukes South Shore, where you'll perform dual responsibilities in both CT scanning and Diagnostic Radiology. In this role, you will utilize your technical expertise and patient care skills to produce high-quality diagnostic images that support accurate radiological assessments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Determine appropriate radiographic techniques tailored to each patient’s anatomy and condition.
  • Skillfully position patients using immobilization and support devices to ensure optimal film and image quality.
  • Adjust imaging equipment precisely, demonstrating tact and courtesy at all times.
  • Collect and document patient histories relevant to prescribed tests, providing essential information for radiologists.
  • Review images to identify artifacts, ensure image quality, and determine if additional views are necessary.
  • Select and modify technical parameters to optimize image clarity.
  • Communicate effectively with Radiologists regarding findings and abnormal or normal anatomy.
  • Evaluate CT orders for appropriateness using the ACR Appropriateness Criteria.
  • Operate CT and Digital X-ray equipment safely and efficiently, complying with all radiation safety procedures.
  • Conduct daily equipment inspections, perform start-up and shut-down procedures, and report any malfunctions promptly.
  • Accurately label and mark images, handle equipment with care, and perform problem solving during equipment issues or physical limitations of patients.
  • Maintain essential competencies through annual training and stay current with departmental standards.

Operations, Equipment, and Safety

  • Demonstrate proficiency in operating all imaging equipment.
  • Adjust technical factors as needed to accommodate different clinical scenarios.
  • Ensure proper equipment labeling, documentation, and safety measures are followed consistently.
  • Perform routine equipment inspections and troubleshooting to maintain optimal functionality.

Qualifications & Requirements

Certifications and Licenses

  • ARRT Certified Radiologic Technologist (Required)
  • ARRT Certified CT Technologist (Required)
  • active Radiation Safety License or Certification (Must be current and valid)

Preferred Education & Experience

  • Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program or equivalent training.
  • Previous experience performing CT scans and Diagnostic Radiology procedures.
  • Familiarity with the ACR Appropriateness Criteria and experience evaluating imaging orders.
  • Strong understanding of radiation safety protocols and patient care standards.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex information clearly to radiologists and patients.
  • Ability to problem-solve equipment issues independently and efficiently.
