Discover Classical, one of the nation’s few full-time, non-commercial classical music stations, is seeking a motivated and creative Marketing & Communications Manager to join our team. This newly created role will help elevate and expand the station’s brand, strengthen connection with our listeners, and enhance our digital presence as we continue to grow. The Marketing & Communications Manager is directly responsible for initiatives to increase audience engagement, grow membership and enhance the public visibility of the station. This role works collaboratively with our programming and membership development teams to bring a cohesive communication strategy to our listeners. This can include working collaboratively across departments ensuring consistent messaging and branding across platforms including on air, digital media, print, and live events.

Primary Responsibilities
1) Brand Development & Outreach
· Develop and implement comprehensive marketing and outreach plans to support audience growth (within listenership, membership and/or underwriting) that will increase brand visibility and awareness within the community. This can include monitoring performance metrics and proactively identifying non-traditional and high-impact marketing opportunities.
· Coordinate station public relations and media outreach that ensures regular, consistent, and engaging communication with the public with the assistance of other staff members. This can include drafting press releases, talking points, relationships with local press and managing listener feedback and comment databases.
· Design and oversee marketing assets/produce department-specific collateral (e.g., underwriting, Maestro Circle) that maintain a cohesive visual identity across all marketing materials and channels.
2) Internal Communications & Editorial Consistency
· Develop, maintain, and update a station-wide style guide.
· Review and edit all public-facing content—including blog posts, Keynotes, and letters—to ensure consistent tone and quality.
· Develop content calendars and coordinate messaging and timeline for major outgoing communications in conjunction with programming and development teams that supports organizational goals and reinforces messaging across all platforms.
· Serve as point of contact for the general station email inbox ([email protected]).
3) Digital Platform Leadership
· Lead development and implementation of a refreshed website which may include oversight of contracted web developer.
· Manage and grow social media channels.
· Oversee e-communications, including newsletters and Keynotes, tracking analytics where needed.
· Build and maintain Discover Classical’s YouTube presence.
4) Institutional & Community Relationships
· Cultivate partnerships with performing and visual arts organizations.
· Coordinate staff presence at key community events to ensure station visibility.
· Maintain a master calendar of events the station should attend or support.
· Assist in marketing some of our content for syndication.
Secondary Responsibilities
· Assist with special projects and events related to member engagement and development.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
· Bachelor’s/ Associate’s degree or equivalent experience; 3–5 years relevant work experience preferably in mission driven organizations.
· Excellent attention to detail.
· Ability to work independently and take initiative.
· Strong writing, editing, communication and computer literacy skills, including Microsoft Office and Google Suite. Graphic design/video production skills a plus.
· Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Canva or comparable design/marketing tools preferred.
Desired Qualifications
· Technologically curious and excited to explore new ways to expand the station’s reach.
· Familiarity with public radio as a listener and/or supporter.
· Experience using e-communication and social media platforms (e.g., Mailchimp, Constant Contact, Facebook, X, Instagram).
Position Details
· Part-time (25 hours/week) with planned growth to full time/salaried position.
· On-site only (not remote or hybrid). Typical office environment with occasional evening or weekend hours for events/campaigns.
· Regular interaction with members and the public is expected.
· Pay range: $22–$25 per hour
