Position Summary

The Digital Content Creator is responsible for capturing, curating, and creating engaging digital content that brings The Alexander Dawson School's story to life. This role supports content production for the School's social media platforms, website, and digital communications, with a focus on showcasing student life, school events, and community activities. Working closely with the Advancement Team (Admissions/Enrollment, Development, and Marketing/Communications), the Digital Content Creator provides essential photography, videography, and social media support to promote the Dawson brand and the strategic direction. This position ensures all digital content aligns with the School's Mission, Vision, Core Values, Strategic Direction, and brand guidelines while maintaining an active, authentic online presence across all platforms.

Essential Functions

The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

Professional Work Habits & Mission Alignment

  • Professional Standards & Conduct: Consistently upholds professional standards of personal presentation, punctuality, attendance, and engagement at meetings, duty coverage, safety protocols, decision-making, and maintains required credentials.

Knowledge & Expertise

Digital Content Creation & Social Media

  • Supports the social media content calendar by assuming assigned tasks and creating engaging social media content across the School's digital platforms
  • Produces creative digital content, including photography, videography, and graphics for social media, website, and email communications.
  • Collaborates with various departments to gain insight for assigned stories.
  • Monitors social media trends and engagement to keep content fresh and relevant.
  • Applies a strategic direction lens when capturing and sharing the School's story.
  • Respects the School's privacy guidelines and families’ consent rules when photographing or filming students.

Website & Content Support

  • Curates and organizes digital assets, including photos, videos, and graphics, for use across multiple platforms.
  • Maintains familiarity with SEO best practices to optimize web and social content visibility.

Branding & Marketing Support

  • Ensures all digital content aligns with the School's brand guidelines and visual identity standards.
  • Assists with the design and production of digital promotional materials for events and initiatives.

Events Coverage

  • Builds excitement and awareness of community events in the weeks leading up to events, performances, etc., increasing interest.
  • Provides photography and videography coverage for school events, including admissions events, fundraising activities, and community gatherings. Working some nights and weekends is required.
  • Creates real-time social media content during events to boost engagement and awareness.
  • Supports event promotion through digital channels.

Qualifications, Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university preferred but not required
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have advanced skills in Google Docs, Forms, and Sheets, as well as Microsoft Word and Excel for Apple or comparable software
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have advanced experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Premiere Pro, and Canva
  • Ability to write digital content copy
  • Ability to solve practical problems. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at one time and successfully meet deadlines
