You'll work closely with Category Marketing Managers, Brand, Consumer Insights, Ecommerce and Digital, Loyalty and Finance to size opportunities, evaluate tests and recommend where and how we win.

Responsibilities:
Turn Data into Clear Category Stories
- Analyze POS, loyalty and research data to identify trends, gaps, and growth opportunities across key categories and customer groups.
- Build recurring and ad-hoc dashboards and reports that translate complexity into simple, actionable narratives for Marketing and the business.
- Partner with Category Marketing Managers to support 4P plans (product, price, promotion, placement) with fact-based insights, including elasticity reads, price ladders, promo performance, and assortment mix analysis.
- Help evaluate category initiatives (e.g., launches, delists, pack/price changes) with pre- and post-analyses and clear “keep/stop/optimize” recommendations.
- Support ad hoc needs across Marketing and the broader business (loyalty, digital, email, finance, etc.), jumping in where needed with a can-do, team-first mindset to help move projects over the finish line.
- Support the Marketing and Consumer Insights teams with strategic, consumer-focused analysis POS data, loyalty cohorts, and research studies – surfacing what matters most for our brand, categories, and campaigns.
- Connect behavioural data (what people buy) with research (what people say) to inform positioning, targeting, and portfolio priorities.
- Monitor category and item performance vs. targets; flag risks and opportunities early with clear, data-driven POVs.
- Support test-and-learn initiatives (e.g., new platforms, pilots, regional tests) by defining measurement plans, tracking KPIs, and summarizing results in concise, executive-ready readouts.
- Tools, Reporting & Data Stewardship
- Build and maintain Excel/BI reports and simple visualizations (e.g., Power BI / Tableau) that can be easily used by non-technical stakeholders.
- Work with Consumer Insights, IT, and Business Intelligence to ensure data quality, consistent definitions, and efficient use of internal and external data sources (POS, loyalty, retailer data, panel, etc.).
- Collaborate closely with Category Marketing, Innovation, Brand, Ecommerce, Loyalty & Digital, Finance, Supply Chain to support business cases and stage-gate decisions with robust analysis.
- Present findings clearly and confidently – tailoring the message for execs, peers, and cross-functional partners.
- University degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, Statistics, Data Analytics or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in an analytical role (Category Analyst, Business Analyst, Insights Analyst, or similar), ideally in CPG, retail, or QSR.
- Experience working with sales/retail data (e.g., POS, loyalty, panel, retailer data) and turning it into insights for commercial teams.
- Strong Excel skills (lookups, pivots, basic modelling); experience with BI or data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is a strong asset.
- Comfortable working with multiple data sources and large datasets; basic SQL or statistics is a plus.
- Familiarity with category management concepts (assortment, price architecture, promo, planogram principles) and performance metrics (units, sales, margin, penetration, trips).
- Insight-curious: you naturally ask “so what?” and “now what?” when you look at data.
- Strong problem-solver who can move from raw data to clear, structured recommendations.
- Comfortable working with some ambiguity and evolving business needs; you prioritize well and manage multiple requests.
- Passionate about food and curious about how Canadians eat, shop, and discover new products.
