Job Description

The Assistant Director of Student Engagement will coordinate, implement, and support student engagement activities and programs that enhance the overall student experience at ODUGlobal. This role involves working closely with students, staff, and faculty to ensure programs are executed smoothly, with a focus on fostering a vibrant and inclusive online community. The Assistant Director will oversee day-to-day operations of engagement initiatives, providing critical support while owning the planning and delivery of various events and programs. Additionally, this role will work closely with the Director of Academic Initiatives and Student Services and other Student Experience leadership to ensure alignment with ODUGlobal Student Experience and Digital Transformation & Technology initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Masters’ degree with major in student affairs, education, communications, or related field.

  • Creative and effective student programming experience; Track record of hosting meaningful and successful student events.
  • Must be able to collaborate with colleagues to create impactful experiences for students.
  • Proficient in digital technologies for virtual engagement.
  • Knowledge of the characteristics, needs, and experiences of major and emerging student populations, including at-risk students.
  • Strong project management, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize multiple initiatives, and communicate effectively with all levels of constituents.
  • Demonstrated ability to work remotely in a distributed team environment to accomplish individual goals and contribute to team goals.
  • Experience in online student engagement, virtual programming, or student affairs.

Additional Considerations

  • Experience in supporting online and adult learners.
  • Experience using relevant information technology collaboration tools (MS Teams, Zoom, MS Outlook, SharePoint, MS Office, Canvas), customer relationship management systems (Salesforce/Education Cloud, Marketing Cloud), and student information systems (BANNER) preferred.
