ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION VACANCY

SUMMARY: The Digital Humanities Consortium (DHC) is seeking a detail-oriented, proactive, and technically capable Website Editor to support the department's digital presence. This position plays a key role in maintaining accurate, engaging, and accessible online content across several affiliated programs, helping strengthen communication, visibility, and outreach efforts.

The Website Editor will be responsible for updating and maintaining the websites for the Digital Humanities Consortium (DHC). Additional support may also be provided for other related programs.

This role requires strong communication skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects with minimal supervision. The schedule is flexible, with 5-20 hours per week depending on departmental needs.

SOME OF THE THINGS THAT YOU WILL GET TO DO (this is just a small sampling of work variety):

  • Maintain and update departmental and affiliated program webpages, including profiles, course information, announcements, and events.
  • Create, revise, and organize website content to ensure clarity, accuracy, and consistent formatting.
  • Monitor websites for outdated information, broken links, accessibility issues, and general usability.
  • Upload documents, images, and media while following accessibility and branding guidelines.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and program directors to gather and publish content in a timely manner.
  • Assist with improving website structure, navigation, and design elements.
  • Provide basic troubleshooting related to the content management system.
  • Support digital communication initiatives aligned with department goals.

Work Detail: Assist in developing/implementing the summer program; Be a mentor/lead a group of incoming students; Help coordinate student activities (team-building); Provide tutoring in first-year fundamental STEM courses; Help coordinate Mentor/Mentee match survey results; Conduct phone campaigns; Answer student questions via phone/email; Collaborate with student leaders, tutors, MEP staff; Collaborate with industry reps and campus services; Develop leadership and other critical professional workplace skills; Remain vigilant and aware of potential safety issues; Demonstrate thorough understanding of reporting protocols to staff.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as, web design/ development, information technology, computer science, communication, or business marketing.
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to learn new digital tools and workflows quickly.
  • Effective communication skills and professionalism when working with multiple stakeholders.

PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with WordPress, Drupal, or similar platforms.
  • Basic understanding of HTML or CSS.
  • Familiarity with digital accessibility standards.
  • Experience with graphic editing tools or basic design software.
  • Background in communications, digital media, or related administrative work.
  • Experience using technology to enhance program delivery and student learning, such as social media, video making, graphic design, website maintenance, online learning platforms, or virtual exchange programs.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in education.

During the school year 20 hours. During summer 20-30 hours/week (Employment dates: May 18, 2026 – July 31, 2026)
