The Council of the Americas (COA) is seeking a Manager for its Washington, DC Office. The Manager, Washington, DC, reports to the Vice President and is responsible for executing high-impact policy programs and cultivating key stakeholder relationships within the nation's capital.

COA is the premier international business organization whose members share a common commitment to economic and social development, open markets, the rule of law, and democracy throughout the Western Hemisphere. The Council’s membership consists of leading U.S. and international companies representing a broad spectrum of sectors. Alongside its sister organization Americas Society (AS), COA provides the most trusted forum for debate on issues affecting the region. Headquartered in New York City, AS/COA also has offices in Washington and Miami and holds high-level events across the United States and Latin America.

The position is based in Washington, offers a competitive benefits package, and requires a minimum of three out of five days in person in our offices, as well as coverage of in-person events as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the development of public policy programs, potential speakers, and audience build-out, as well as tracking issues of critical importance to the region.
  • Build and maintain relations with the U.S. Congress on behalf of the Council of the Americas.
  • Gather information on upcoming congressional testimony, CODELS and STAFFDELS, and other activities relevant to the Council and successfully identify opportunities for Council participation, including oral and written testimony, briefings, and meetings.
  • Assist with sponsorship management, including tracking sponsor benefits, coordinating deliverables, and maintaining strong relationships with corporate members. Coordinate the AS/COA Healthcare Series and related sponsored programming by developing content and ensuring timely fulfillment of sponsorship deliverables.
  • Coordinate private meetings, roundtables, and conference programs in Washington and handle logistics such as arranging setup and executing programs onsite.
  • Contribute significantly to the success of the annual Washington Conference on the Americas.
  • Provide necessary support and backup for the VP of the Washington Office.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications

  • At least 4–7 years combined professional experience in international public policy or politics and comprehensive knowledge of political, economic, and social issues in Latin America.
  • Bachelor’s degree in international affairs, public policy or a related field with a particular focus on Latin America and the Caribbean. Master’s degree a plus.
  • Substantive knowledge of congressional affairs, trade policy, and current Latin American issues required.
  • Spanish-language skills strongly preferred. Knowledge of Portuguese a plus.

The salary range for this position is $75k–$85k.
