About the position
The Arts / Film and Digital Media IT Specialist at UC Santa Cruz provides specialized IT services and digital media support primarily for the Film and Digital Media department within the Arts Division. This role encompasses managing IT resources, supporting instructional and research activities, and overseeing hardware and software inventory. Responsibilities
- Manage IT resources for complex instructional spaces, including labs and classrooms.

- Oversee hardware and software refresh cycles and maintain inventory compliance.

- Provide film and digital media instructional support to faculty, staff, and students.

- Manage administrative systems for the Film and Digital Media department.
,
- Perform system administration and maintenance for multiple servers and web applications.
,
- Manage equipment and software budgets in coordination with department management.
,
- Provide general IT services, including desktop support and troubleshooting.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a related area or equivalent experience/training.

- Advanced knowledge of filesystems and storage solutions for video production.
,
- Demonstrated ability to install software and troubleshoot complex computing issues.
,
- Knowledge of film and digital media production principles and concepts.
,
- Extensive familiarity with Macintosh operating systems and applications.
,
- Interpersonal skills to work effectively with diverse groups.
,
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
,
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and willingness to learn new technologies.

- Knowledge of applications and equipment for film and digital media projects.

- Ability to code in PHP, Python, or other programming languages.
