Digital Communications Specialist

Our client is the HR department of a university looking for a freelance Digital Communications Specialist to support a busy Communications team with campaign execution. This is an onsite assignment that will be at least 6 months, possibly longer, and 35 hours/week (7 hours/day). The start date will be in early January.

The Digital Communications Specialist will work on:

• Writing: Creating original content for newsletters, reports, announcements, and other communications
• Editing & Proofreading: Reviewing and refining content to ensure clarity, consistency, and adherence to organizational style and tone
• Website Updates: Maintaining and updating web pages to reflect current information, improve user experience, and support strategic initiatives
• Design: Producing visual assets including brochures, flyers, infographics, presentations, and digital graphics aligned with brand guidelines

Campaigns include events, brochure redesigns, newsletters, and more.

To be considered, candidates must have some experience working in a professional setting and strong skills in writing, editing, proofreading, digital publishing, and design. Experience with a CMS and design tools like Canva is highly preferred. Experience working in higher education, HR, or communications is a plus but not required.

In this position, you may have access to client or customer systems, confidential and/or proprietary information or data. This position is onsite and requires you to work closely with other individuals in a collaborative team environment.
