Position Overview

UW Medicine’s Strategic Marketing and Communications seeks a Senior Marketing and Communications Director for the UW School of Medicine. In this key leadership role, you will develop and execute integrated strategies that elevate the school’s reputation in medical education, research, and innovation while aligning messaging across educational, clinical, and research missions.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and lead a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy for the UW School of Medicine, ensuring unified brand messaging across all platforms.
• Oversee integrated campaigns and editorial content that highlight academic excellence, research impact, and community outreach.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership and build strong relationships with faculty, administrative staff, and external partners.
• Manage and mentor a high-performing team, fostering continuous learning and performance excellence.
• Collaborate with the centralized Strategic Marketing and Communications team to align school initiatives with institutional priorities.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications or a related field.
• At least five years of progressively responsible marketing and communications experience, including internal and external programs.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills with a strong ability to build relationships across diverse teams.
• Proven leadership, organizational skills and a solid understanding of digital platforms and tools.

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced degree in communications or a related field.
• Approximately ten years of marketing and communications leadership experience.
• Experience working in large, complex organizations, preferably within academic or health system settings.

• Compensation: $170,004.00 – $180,000.00 annual
