**Marketing & Communications Specialist**
The Marketing & Communications Specialist plays a key role in shaping the Hotel’s voice, visibility, and connection with both guests and the community. This full-time position supports internal and external marketing initiatives, executing dynamic social media strategies, curating engaging content, and strengthening brand presence across multiple platforms. Working closely with the Director of Sales & Marketing, this role ensures consistent, high-quality communications that reflect the Hotel’s values, enhance guest experience, and drive organizational goals.
- *Responsibilities**:
- *Social Media & Digital Marketing**
- Develop and implement social media strategies that align with the Hotel’s brand and business objectives.
- Curate and create compelling multimedia content (copy, graphics, photos, video) for platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn.
- Collaborate with web developers on website enhancements and updates.
- Oversee and manage multiple accounts, ensuring consistent messaging and tone.
- Monitor engagement, respond to comments/messages, and foster a vibrant online community.
- Use analytics tools (e.g., Meta Business Suite) to evaluate campaign performance and provide actionable insights.
- Manage paid social campaigns and track KPIs to optimize conversion and reach.
- *Brand Communications & Media Relations**
- Serve as the primary media contact, cultivating relationships with journalists, influencers, and local media outlets.
- Draft and distribute press releases, media kits, and story pitches to promote the Hotel on local and national levels.
- Lead crisis communications, ensuring timely and transparent messaging that protects brand reputation.
- Collaborate with destination marketing organizations (e.g., Destination Greater Victoria) to amplify visibility.
- *Internal & On-Property Marketing**
- Design and update internal marketing assets (posters, digital screens, brochures, signage) to support events, promotions, and in-room experiences.
- Act as an in-house sales ambassador, assisting with site visits, VIP guests, and influencer stays.
- Support community engagement through participation in events such as the Victoria Pride Parade and Victoria Native Friendship Centre initiatives.
- *Analytics**
- Track, analyze, and report on performance metrics for campaigns across social, digital, and traditional channels.
- Stay current on emerging marketing trends, technologies, and tools, recommending fresh strategies to maintain competitive edge.
- *Qualifications**
- 2+ years of professional experience managing social media and brand communications.
- Diploma or degree in Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, or related field.
- Proficiency with content creation tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite), Microsoft Office Suite, and WordPress.
- Proven skills in writing, editing, and visual storytelling.
- Photography and videography skills, including basic editing.
- Strong understanding of analytics tools and campaign performance tracking.
- Ability to adapt content for different platforms, demographics, and brand voice.
- Highly organized with excellent attention to detail and ability to juggle multiple projects.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Hospitality or tourism experience preferred.
- Professional appearance, discretion, and ability to handle sensitive information.
- Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.

Pay: $55,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
