Tax Technology and Transformation offers services to companies in response to the impact of existing and emerging technology, including the growing data burden that many businesses face. Our goal is to help businesses navigate the digital age of tax transparency alongside new trends in tax compliance and audit methods, while solving pressing challenges across the tax function.

Today's dynamic corporate environment is changing the way tax is applied throughout business. A comprehensive solution for maintaining tax controls in indirect taxes is the implementation of a transaction tax calculation engine. This engine automates tax determination, calculation, and compliance processes across ERP systems, custom applications, and third‑party solutions.

The opportunity

This role offers growth and investment in a dynamic field. You will work on high‑visibility projects, contributing to the development of tax practice in a constantly evolving regulatory landscape.

Key responsibilities

You may support various client projects, from delivering leading‑practice MS SQL Server, SharePoint and Power BI solutions to implementing third‑party tax applications and automating internal and external tax operations. Your focus will be on quality, commercial value and compliance, ensuring we maintain our reputation as trusted advisors.

Skills and attributes for success

  • Taking ownership of assigned tasks until completion, including documentation, configuration, testing, debugging, and profitability analysis.
  • Identifying automation opportunities using existing tax systems and emerging technologies.
  • Consolidating tax data for efficient analysis and planning.
  • Improving reporting capabilities to help clients evaluate risk and capitalize on opportunities.
  • Supporting project team members to ensure timely delivery.

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • A bachelor’s degree in Information Systems and/or a master’s degree in Accounting, Tax Technology, MIS, Computer Science or related field with a minimum of eight years of relevant experience.
  • Approved technical certification, CPA license or state Bar membership.
  • Strong interest in technology and its application to business processes.
  • Excellent communication and business‑writing skills.
  • Problem‑solving mindset and entrepreneurial approach.
  • Strong organizational and time‑management skills with exemplary client‑serving consulting abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to capture and synthesize business requirements.
  • Ability to lead a team, mentor counselees, and manage client‑servicing initiatives.
  • Willingness to travel as needed and comfort with a hybrid environment.

Ideally, you will also have

  • Experience implementing third‑party direct or indirect tax systems such as ONESOURCE, Vertex, Avalara, etc.
  • Microsoft Office VBA development skills.
  • Power BI suite proficiency (Power Pivot, Power Query, Power View, Power Map).
  • Database design and development experience (especially SQL Server).
  • ETL development experience using SSIS or similar tools.
  • ERP experience (SAP and/or Oracle).
  • SharePoint development experience.
  • Experience managing large, multidisciplinary tax projects (ERP implementations, tax co‑sourcing, finance transformations).

What we offer you

  • Competitive compensation and benefits. Base salary ranges: $146,600–$335,000 nationwide; $176,000–$380,600 in New York, Washington, and California (except Sacramento). Additional benefits include medical, dental, pension, 401(k), and paid time off.
