  • *Position Overview**:

The Manager, Digital Engagement and Content, will play a critical role in shaping the organization’s online presence, creating engaging content, and ensuring our digital platforms reflect the Foundation for Black Communities' mission, vision, and values. Reporting to the Director of Communications, this role will be vital in capturing and sharing the impact stories of our community investments, partners and initiatives.

The Manager will lead the development of creative content strategies that highlight the transformative work of FFBC and its community, oversee website management and drive the growth of the organization’s online visibility and audience engagement. By focusing on impact storytelling, this role will help to amplify the voices of Black-led, Black-serving, and Black-focused organizations across Canada, bringing their stories and achievements to a broader audience.

  • *Key Responsibilities**
  • *Content Strategy and Development**
  • Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive content strategy aligned with the organization’s communications objectives including and showcase FFBC’s impact.
  • Manage creating, editing, and updating engaging, SEO-optimized web content, including blog posts, articles, newsletters, and multimedia.
  • Ensure all content meets brand guidelines and is consistent in style, tone, and quality across all platforms.
  • Oversee content calendars and manage content delivery in a timely and efficient manner in both official languages.
  • Work with Community Impact and Strategic Initiatives team to source and repurpose content from events, reports, and on-the-ground activities.
  • *Web Development and Management**
  • Manage website architecture, content layout, and navigation to enhance user experience and optimize website performance.
  • Collaborate with freelancers (web builders) and the internal technology team to ensure websites are functional, secure, and up-to-date.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure web content is current, accessible, and aligned with best practices in web standards and accessibility (WCAG).
  • Identify opportunities for website improvements and implement changes based on analytics and user feedback.
  • *Analytics and Performance**
  • Use web analytics tools to monitor and report on the performance of web content, making data-driven decisions to improve user engagement and traffic.
  • Provide insights on content effectiveness and identify opportunities for content optimization.
  • *Collaboration and Communication**
  • Work closely with the Communications Director to support cross-departmental content needs, ensuring alignment with the broader communications strategy.
  • Collaborate and manage relationships with designers, developers, freelancers, and external content creators to produce timely and engaging multimedia content.
  • Support internal communications efforts by ensuring digital tools are effectively used to disseminate information.
  • Work closely with the external technology team to align web development efforts with the organization’s technical infrastructure and capabilities.
  • Coordinate between the communications and technology teams to ensure seamless content and web functionalities integration.
  • *Content Management Systems (CMS)**
  • Manage the organization’s CMS to ensure efficient publishing, editing, and maintenance of web content.
  • Train staff on CMS usage and content publishing best practices, ensuring a collaborative content creation environment.
  • *Qualifications**
  • Post secondary education in Communications, Marketing, Web Development, Journalism, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in content management, web development, or digital communications.
  • Proficiency in Content Management Systems (e.g., WordPress, Drupal) and familiarity with web development languages (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
  • Strong understanding of SEO, web traffic metrics, and user experience design.
