Summary

The Vice President (VP) of Marketing & Communications oversees development and execution of comprehensive communication, education and marketing plans and strategies designed to support business and organizational goal fulfillment, promote company visibility, and optimize overall external audiences' brand awareness and engagement. The VP is a leader and storyteller, with strong background in healthcare systems and the ability to align brand message to target audiences and business and clinical objectives. The role works cross-functionally to develop and execute the brand vision across channels, departments and work teams and works closely with the Executive team and leaders to advance the brand across national, regional, and state-specific markets and establish the company as a leader in the health information exchange and technology industry.

The VP of Marketing & Communications will be accountable for a range of marketing programs and education/communication initiatives in affiliated states and will be responsible for managing the MarCom, driving brand design and awareness. This leadership role will oversee initiatives that strengthen external and internal communications, including but not limited to executive, financial, customer, social, industry, promotions, and media relations.

This position is based in Phoenix Arizona; Denver Colorado; or Grand Junction, Colorado and requires local residency in one of these base locations. Our strategic flexibility allows for local work from home opportunities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

Brand Strategy and Leadership

  • Oversees Marketing and Communication staff and external agencies and vendors, including designing and implementing strategies that support Contexture’s 3-year strategic plans and that cultivate our relationships with media, engaging our target audiences, and boosting our brand awareness while supporting the growth and transformation of the Company.
  • Builds and refines key communications, narratives for key audiences, and campaigns that will scale the department’s ability to effectively create brand awareness for Contexture and further its business objectives and goals.
  • Leads the vision, strategy, and results of brand positioning, and campaigns, harmonizing a clear brand message across all channels, online and offline.
  • Creates an environment and process for compelling brand marketing/advertising campaigns to come to life, ensuring campaigns are on-brand, executed on time, and optimized at different times for experience, press coverage, brand engagement, and overall sales impact.
  • Supports executive team in a national and regional thought leadership strategy to elevate Contexture’s brand as a Health Information Exchange Leader and as a trusted community healthcare resource.
  • Responsible for overall reputation management. Ensures brand identities and standards are maintained across all forms of media and across affiliated states.
  • Builds marketing and communications analytics through the design of dashboards and key performance indicators.
  • Develops and administers the departmental budget and provides strategic oversight for sub-department budget planning and accountability.
  • Defines and maintains participation Return on Investment (ROI) data and collateral as part of Contexture’s sales strategy.
  • Drives the development and implementation of Contexture’s annual summits
  • Stays up to date on industry trends and competition analysis, providing strategic information to Contexture leadership and staff.

Marketing and Communications Operations

  • Drives the Marketing and Communications objectives and goals in the organization's strategic plan, directing strategic projects and partnerships that advance the Contexture brand.
  • Communicates the creative direction, prioritization level, deadlines, and goals/objectives of department activities.
  • Coordinates with Marketing/Communications teams to develop effective outbound campaigns, materials, and collateral, including but not limited to webinars, FAQs, product profiles and promotional/sales materials, in-person and virtual events and other community presentations and trainings.
  • Establishes, maintains, and safeguards the organization's marketing and communications protocols and formal process for the creation, editing, and approval of marketing outputs.
  • Oversees a comprehensive, multi-channel marketing and communications plan that effectively positions Contexture as an industry leader for key audiences, including healthcare and technology leaders, state and federal policy makers, foundations and donors, and the broader healthcare community.
  • Inspires a visual look; refine designs and copy; lends a critical eye to all creative, structural, and technical output.
  • Prepares marketing and communication reports for various stakeholders by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data from multiple tools and sources.
  • Compiles market research for targeting products, services, and initiatives to local and regional stakeholder audiences. Collaborates with state teams to propose sales strategies based on target healthcare markets.
  • Works across the organization to develop, train and manage a comprehensive crisis communication approach.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Skills

  • Proven track record in marketing and brand promotion with strong success in implementing healthcare and consumer-focused marketing campaigns with clear business objectives and targets.
  • Demonstrated success supervising and maintaining marketing and communications plans, programs, and initiatives.
  • Exposure to multiple sectors and levels of healthcare with the ability to “tell their story” and link sales and marketing strategy to their business and clinical needs.
  • Broad knowledge in all marketing disciplines: public relations, marketing, advertising, graphic design, print/video production, and copywriting.
  • Understanding of digital channels, creativity, and market feel. Knowledge of web analytics and software like Google Analytics and Google AdWords.
  • Strong marketing background with the ability to recognize great storytelling and visuals.
  • Inspires, and builds strong in-house teams ensuring excellent, high-quality marketing designs and campaigns. Continually raises the bar on creativity, writing fresh copy that connects with the desired audience and drives action.
  • Experience in mentoring and coaching a team of communications and marketing staff of 5+ people.
  • Energetic, self-reliant, good problem solver, and results oriented.
  • Promotes a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with a high-volume workload often requiring short turnaround times, meeting deadlines imposed for producing communication outputs.
  • Experience in developing and presenting informational presentations to small and large constituent audiences.
  • Experience with healthcare privacy and security laws, policies, and associated communications.
  • Strong computer skills, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and office equipment.

Education/Experience

  • Minimum of 10+ years’ experience in communications and marketing, including experience in brand promotion strategy and tactics.
  • A background in healthcare communications is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field required.

The position may require occasional availability for after-hours work, outside of regularly scheduled hours.

The position may require ability to periodically drive to and from clients, conferences and / or events; and / or limited travel.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The person in this position needs to frequently communicate and exchange information and move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time. Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a keyboard, monitor, calculator, copy / scanner machine, and printer. Frequently moves office and work-related material weighing up to 10 pounds; Occasionally moves office and work-related material weighing up to 30 pounds.
