The opportunity

The Senior Director, US Innovative Medicines Communications at Teva Pharmaceuticals leads the development and execution of integrated communication and public relations strategies for the branded / patented products of Teva’s US Commercial unit. S/he will play a pivotal role in driving reputational leadership of the company’s key growth drivers in mental health, movement disorders, migraine and other conditions across neuroscience, immunology and rare disease. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in pipeline/product/brand communications for the US market with a global pharmaceutical company. S/he will be responsible for driving the brand communication strategy of our innovative medicines portfolio in alignment with Teva’s Pivot to Growth strategy for media, investors, employees, and other internal and external audiences.

Location: This is a hybrid opportunity based out of Parsippany, NJ

How You’ll Spend Your Day

  • Develop and execute strategic communication programming for internal and external stakeholders to drive forward the company’s strategy, promote Teva’s purpose, support the business, strengthen Teva’s reputation, and build employee pride.
  • Actively engage and collaborate with business partners across the value chain to deliver breakthrough communications with precision and impact, ensuring wide and effective amplification of Teva’s Pivot to Growth corporate strategy and purpose to key stakeholders with a strong emphasis on patient experience and outcomes.
  • Be an engaging and empowering team leader who inspires high-performing, agile teams committed to high-quality standards and business impact.
  • Lead cross-functional team and agency partners to create compelling, patient-centric, strategic branded and unbranded communications for disease education, new product launches, data and regulatory milestones, issues management, thought leadership, influencer and celebrity campaigns, enterprise and executive messaging and more.
  • In keeping with Teva’s purpose, ensure product messaging maintains a central focus on patient experience, reflecting respect and compassion for people living the medical conditions for which Teva develops and delivers effective treatments by researching and engaging with patient communities.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, providing counsel on communication issues, brand management and stakeholder engagement.
  • Ensure strategic alignment of communications planning, brand management and resource allocation through all-in engagement in US IM leadership teams, active collaboration with Global Corporate Affairs functional partners and dedicated teamwork with Teva business partners.
  • Forge and maintain positive and productive partnerships with communication counterparts at third-party companies on partnered project communications.
  • Ensure all communications comply with regulatory requirements and reflect respect, compassion and scientific integrity.
  • Monitor and analyze communication performance metrics to assess the effectiveness of initiative and continuously refine strategies.

Your Experience And Qualifications

Any equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience that fulfills the requirements of the position will be considered.

Education/Certification/Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree in communications/writing/journalism/marketing or a life sciences discipline; advanced degree in communications or life sciences a plus.
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in pharmaceutical communications, PR, corporate affairs or marketing.
  • Demonstrated expertise in developing and executing PR strategies for complex, highly regulated products.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex information for a general audience.
  • Proficiency in digital communication tools and platforms to create content for various communication channels.
  • Strong leadership skills, with ability to gain followership across multi-functional teams.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-changing and dynamic business environment.
  • Ability to engage and collaborate effectively across multiple stakeholder groups, including senior leaders, news media, patients and advocates, clinicians, doctors, scientists and celebrities.

Travel Requirements

  • International and domestic travel should be expected up to 20% of the time.

Visual Acuity

  • Close visual acuity to perform activities such as computer work, preparing and analyzing data and extensive reading.

  • Work will be conducted mainly in an office environment

Compensation Data

The annual starting salary for this position is between $226,480 – $297,255 annually. Factors which may affect starting salary within this range and level of role may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
