Want to work on frontier, world class, AI-powered experiences for health customers and health providers? The Health Science & Analytics group in Amazon's Health Store & Technology organization is looking for a Manager of Applied Science to lead a group of applied scientists to work hand in hand with physicians and technologists to build the future of AI-powered healthcare experiences.
We have an ambitious roadmap which includes scaling recently launched products which are already delighting products and the opportunity to build disruptive, new experiences. This role will be responsible for leading key science initiatives in support of our ambitious goals.

Key job responsibilities
Independently manage a team of scientists sustainably deliver science agenda for our products.
Define the science roadmap for key products.
Maintain and raise the science bar of the team’s deliverables and keep the broader Amazon Health Services organization apprised of the latest relevant technical developments in the field.
Work across business, clinical, and technical leaders to disambiguate science needs and socialize progress towards key goals and deliverables.
Proactively identify risks and shape the technical roadmap in anticipation of industry trends in emerging AI subfields.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge of ML, NLP, Information Retrieval and Analytics
- 5+ years of scientists or machine learning engineers management experience
- Hands on experience in AI product development and experience with conversational systems.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience building machine learning models or developing algorithms for business application
- Experience building complex software systems, especially involving deep learning, machine learning and computer vision, that have been successfully delivered to customers
- Experience with AI development in healthcare settings.
- PhD in Computer Science (CS), Computer Engineering (CE), Machine Learning (ML), or related technical field

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $165,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $286,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
