Responsibilities

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The Public Relations Communications Lead develops and implements strategic communication plans to promote the mission, brand, and services at Hoag. Responsible for managing internal and external communication channels, building relationships with stakeholders, and enhancing the organization's reputation within the healthcare industry. The PR Communications Lead will drive market awareness for how Hoag is empowering the OC Community through our healthcare footprint.

  • Develop & implement comprehensive PR and communication strategies aligned with the organization's goals, values, and image.
  • Create & execute effective media relations strategies to secure positive coverage in print, broadcast, and digital media outlets.
  • Serve as the organization's spokesperson and handle media inquiries, press releases, and interviews to ensure accurate and consistent messaging.
  • Develop & maintain relationships with media contacts, industry influencers, and key stakeholders to enhance the organization's visibility and reputation.
  • Create & manage content for various communication channels, including press releases, articles, newsletters, social media, website, and internal communications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and leverage opportunities for positive media coverage and public relations campaigns.
  • Monitor media coverage and industry trends to identify potential issues and proactively develop strategies to address them.
  • Plan and coordinate media events, press conferences, and speaking engagements to promote the organization's key initiatives and achievements.
  • Develop and manage crisis communication plans, including drafting statements, coordinating responses, and mitigating potential reputational risks.
  • Analyze and report on the effectiveness of communication strategies and campaigns, utilizing metrics and feedback to make data-driven improvements.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies to drive innovation and improvement in PR and communication activities.
  • Manage relationships with external vendors, agencies, and contractors to ensure high-quality delivery of PR and communication services within budgetary constraints.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in public relations, communications, or related roles, preferably within the healthcare industry.
  • Proven track record of developing and executing successful PR and communication strategies and campaigns.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling messages for various audiences and channels.
  • Strong media relations skills, with a solid network of media contacts and experience in securing positive media coverage.

Preferred

  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment, while meeting deadlines and maintaining attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in using communication tools and platforms, including media monitoring software, content management systems, and social media management tools.
  • Demonstrated crisis management skills and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders, including executives, staff, media, and community partners.
  • Knowledge of healthcare industry regulations, trends, and best practices is highly desirable.
