Job Description

The Director of Marketing provides strategic leadership and hands‑on execution to advance the company's integrated marketing communications, with a strong emphasis on digital marketing and marketing technology. This role leads a collaborative team and partners closely with business and sales leaders to define meaningful performance metrics, build effective marketing plans, drive demand generation and position the bank as a high-quality provider of financial services to rural industries. The Director owns and optimizes the bank's core digital marketing platforms, including the website, marketing automation, analytics and social media channels. They are responsible for establishing a scalable lead pipeline, developing analytics frameworks, and ensuring data‑driven decision‑making across the marketing function. Working in partnership with communications and brand peers, the director ensures message clarity, brand consistency, and integrated campaign execution across all channels—digital, print, and experiential.

Essential Functions

  • Develops and executes integrated marketing strategies that align with business objectives and drive qualified lead generation across digital and traditional channels, including web, email, social (organic and paid), and targeted campaigns.
  • Defines and manages the lead‑generation and lead‑management framework—including scoring, routing, lifecycle stages, and feedback loops—in partnership with the line of business.
  • Owns and optimizes the digital marketing technology stack—including the website and CMS, Marketing Cloud marketing automation, analytics platforms, and social channels—to ensure a seamless, scalable demand‑generation engine.
  • Serves as the primary marketing partner to all business units, collaborating on messaging, campaign planning, sales tools, and performance metrics to ensure alignment and impact.
  • Oversees the development and delivery of sales‑enablement tools—including brochures, fact sheets, case studies, white papers, presentations, and digital assets—to support business development and customer engagement.
  • Leads the bank’s advertising strategy across print and digital channels, ensuring alignment with brand standards, audience targeting, and campaign objectives to maximize visibility and engagement.
  • Administers and optimizes Marketing Cloud, including journey design, automations, segmentation, data extensions and governance.
  • Oversees the strategy, development, and optimization of landing pages to support lead generation, conversion rate improvement, and an effective customer experience.
  • Develops marketing analytics frameworks and dashboards that measure performance, pipeline impact, and customer behavior, supporting data‑driven decision‑making across the function.
  • Maintains efficient project management processes to ensure timely execution, cross‑functional alignment, and consistent delivery of high‑quality marketing outputs.
  • Monitors and analyze campaign performance, operational and lead‑pipeline metrics; analyze results; and use insights to refine strategies, optimize the marketing funnel, and improve ROI across all channels.
  • Leads, coaches, and develops a collaborative marketing team responsible for digital and traditional campaign execution, content development, and marketing project coordination, ensuring high performance and continuous skill growth.
  • As a people manager at CoBank, you will be expected to manage and lead associates. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, associate performance management, talent strategy, workforce planning, change management, conflict resolution, and relationship management. You will drive and be accountable for the team’s development, alignment with the division’s objectives, as well as with CoBank’s strategy and mission.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing or a related field required

Work Experience

  • 12 years of experience in marketing communications, digital marketing, or related disciplines, preferably in a corporate environment required
  • 5 years of people management experience required
  • Prior Experience supporting or leading go‑to‑market planning in partnership with business stakeholders. required
  • Prior Experience with data‑driven decision‑making and marketing analytics tools such as Google Analytics, Salesforce reports, and marketing attribution frameworks. required
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop a high‑performing team; proven success managing complex projects and influencing senior stakeholders across business units, sales, and product teams.
  • Deep understanding of integrated marketing strategy, spanning digital, print, experiential, and demand‑generation channels.
  • Expertise in demand generation, lead nurturing, and marketing automation platforms—preferably Salesforce Marketing Cloud—including hands‑on experience with journey building, automations, segmentation, and platform optimization.
  • Strong grasp of content strategy, message development, and customer‑journey mapping across multiple audiences and product lines.
  • Ability to define KPIs, interpret marketing performance data, build dashboards, and use insights to optimize campaigns and improve ROI.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain brand consistency and message clarity across all channels and customer touchpoints.
  • Expert technical fluency with marketing technologies, with the ability to evaluate, implement, and optimize tools within the marketing stack.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a hands‑on, fast‑moving, small‑team environment.

Physical Exertion Details

About CoBank

The typical base pay range for this role is between $158,700 - $195,200. Compensation may vary based on individual job-related knowledge, skills, expertise, and experience. This position is eligible for a discretionary annual incentive program driven by organization and individual performance. The listed salary, other compensation and benefits information is accurate as of the date of this posting.
