This individual will be responsible for developing and implementing advanced SEO strategies aimed at enhancing experiences for all search users interacting with AWS. The role involves key responsibilities across strategic SEO capabilities, technical excellence, fostering a culture of testing and optimization, and strong leadership and communication. In terms of strategic SEO, the Senior Technical SEO Manager will proactively identify opportunities, translating business strategy into tactical SEO requirements and actionable implementation plans. This includes developing and executing comprehensive SEO strategies that align with AWS marketing priorities and drive measurable customer acquisition. A crucial aspect will be identifying and addressing areas where current SEO best practices are not being applied, while staying ahead of evolving algorithms and contributing to global and local search opportunities. For technical excellence, the role requires deep expertise in technical SEO concepts such as XML sitemaps, structured data, HTML, and other relevant terms. The manager will leverage data and enterprise SEO tools like Google Search Console, seoClarity, ScreamingFrog, and Botify to provide insights and secure stakeholder buy-in. Responsibilities also include auditing or facilitating vendor audits for the AWS website and other properties to ensure optimal performance. Fostering a testing and optimization culture is another core responsibility. The Senior Technical SEO Manager will build and champion this culture by enabling teams to utilize search team-owned testing tools. This role drives data-driven decision-making concerning on-site customer experience through thorough test results and analysis, measuring and communicating the impact of SEO initiatives to all stakeholders. Regarding leadership and communication, effective communication with peers and senior leadership is essential, including appropriate escalation. The manager will serve as the primary SEO partner to various teams, including web teams, front-end and back-end engineering, Information Architecture teams, search product managers, and content teams. They will drive a culture where SEO best practices are embedded throughout the organization, operating autonomously while collaborating effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Basic qualifications for this role include 6+ years of professional non-internship marketing experience, demonstrating the ability to use data and metrics for improvements. Candidates should have experience with Excel or Tableau for data manipulation, macros, charts, and pivot tables. A minimum of 5 years of recent professional SEO experience on large, global sites receiving over 100,000 monthly organic search visits is required, along with demonstrated experience using enterprise SEO tools such as Google Search Console, Moz, seoClarity, ScreamingFrog, or Botify. Collaboration experience with technical and non-technical stakeholders on SEO strategy implementation, and a proven track record of taking SEO initiatives from concept to completion with measurable results, are also essential. Preferred qualifications include experience creating and executing integrated marketing lead generation campaigns utilizing tactics like live/virtual events, webinars, email, lead nurture programs, and CRM/sales insights. Experience with Salesforce and Tableau, along with a background in B2B, digital advertising, and ad-tech products/services, is also valued. Additional preferences include 5+ years of recent professional SEO experience on large, global sites with significant organic traffic, further experience collaborating with diverse stakeholders on SEO, a strong track record of successful SEO initiatives, and proficiency in communicating results to senior leadership.
