Marketing & Communications Specialist

Summary

The Marketing & Communications Specialist plays a key role in promoting Friends of PACC’s (FOP) mission through strategic marketing, communications, and community engagement initiatives. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), this role is responsible for creating compelling content across social media and digital platforms, developing marketing and fundraising collateral, supporting events and campaigns, and assisting with organizational communications. The ideal candidate brings creativity, excellent communication skills, and a passion for storytelling to help grow FOP’s visibility, strengthen community connections, and maximize impact for the pets we serve.

Functions

· Provides excellent customer service in person, in writing, and over the phone.

· Collaborate with the Annual Giving Specialist on online fundraising campaigns, with special emphasis on Giving Tuesday, Arizona Gives Day, and El Tour de Tucson.

· Provides graphic design support for print and digital collateral, and coordinates with graphic designers, printers, and vendors as needed.

· Drafts press releases and supports media relations in partnership with the Chief Executive Officer, who serves as the primary media contact.

· Collaborates with Annual Giving Specialist on fundraising and marketing materials, including print and electronic newsletters, brochures, social media content, and appeals.

· Works with the Chief Executive Officer to analyze and assess marketing campaigns.

· Creates and oversees regular content for all social media channels, working in conjunction with the Chief Operating Officer.

· Monitors and maintains the [email protected] email account, in partnership with the COO, Executive Administrator, and Annual Giving Specialist.

· Maintains and updates the Friends of PACC website and related sites, including posting blog content and responding to online inquiries.

· Creates and maintains the organization’s style guide and communications policies and procedures.

· Assists with planning and executing Friends of PACC events and supports marketing and implementation of Friends’ signature event.

· Provides marketing support for the Pets of Pima Parade and other special events.

· Assists with community presentations, tabling opportunities, and engagement activities with key partners.

Helps cultivate and maintain positive partnerships with community organizations, service providers, donors, and volunteers.

· Coordinates with PACC and Pima County Public Relations personnel on shared initiatives.

· Represents the Friends of PACC at community events.

· Develops short-term and long-term marketing plans, including social media strategies, content creation across all major platforms, and direct mail/email campaigns.

· Develops, implements, and tracks marketing programs across social media, email, digital campaigns, and events.

· Analyzes and reports on marketing campaign performance and adjusts strategies to improve engagement.

· Assists with donated items, including receiving, loading, unloading, organizing, and distributing items as needed.

· Performs other duties as assigned.

Preparation and Knowledge

Candidates must possess essential personal qualifications, including, at a minimum, a commitment to the mission and vision of Friends of PACC and a passion to provide quality services to the pets who come to PACC. In addition, the ideal candidate will possess the following:

· Associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field or commensurate work experience

· 3-5 years of experience in the nonprofit sector

· Strong written and verbal communication skills

· Fluency in social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok

· Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and website software

· Database management experience

· Email marketing experience

· Graphic design skills and experience are a plus

· Experience in animal welfare or related field preferred

· Valid Arizona driver’s license and ability to meet insurance requirements

· A valid Arizona driver’s license is required at the time of appointment.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions

· This position requires intermittent physical activity, including standing for extended periods, bending, reaching, and moving during events and donation pickups, as well as prolonged periods of sitting and computer use.

· Ability to work in an environment with cats, dogs, and other animals.

· Hours may include weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed – including some special events.

· Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds and assist with loading, unloading, and transporting donated goods and event materials as needed.

· This position requires working in a variety of weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, wind, and rain, during outdoor events and donation activities.

Licenses and Certificates

· A valid AZ driver’s license is required at the time of appointment. The successful applicant will be subject to a 36-month DOT Motor Vehicle Record review to determine the applicant’s suitability to operate county vehicles in accordance with Pima County administrative procedures. Failure to obtain and maintain the required licenses and certifications shall be grounds for termination. Any offer of employment resulting from this recruitment is contingent upon review and approval of the candidate’s driving record.

· Anyone who drives on behalf of Friends of PACC is required to maintain personal auto insurance with minimum coverage of $100,000/$300,000. Proof of coverage must be submitted annually.
