THE ORGANIZATION
NHMC stands as a pillar of civil and human rights advocacy, a woman-led 501c(3) nonprofit devoted to dismantling hate, discrimination, and racism aimed at Latino communities. Our work spans from the policy-making halls of Washington D.C. to the dynamic media landscape of Hollywood, where we serve as a catalyst, instigating change and connecting Latino talent with the entertainment industry.
Our mission revolves around three central pillars—equity and access, accountability, and leadership to ownership. We work tirelessly to eliminate barriers inhibiting Latino communities from attaining true equity, be it in the realms of entertainment, media, politics, or digital connectivity. We envision an accessible society where every individual, particularly those from the Latino community, are empowered and provided equal opportunities.
We tirelessly call out issues that threaten the well-being of our communities. This involves holding those in power to account, from elected officials and governmental agencies to corporate America. We assertively combat online hate and disinformation across media platforms and advocate for programs like the Affordable Connectivity Program, Lifeline Program, and Net Neutrality protections that help bridge the digital divide for Latino and other marginalized communities.
Lastly, we aspire to elevate Latino individuals from merely leading roles to owners, creating a lasting impact. We believe in the power of ownership—be it in Congress, in media studios, or even as homeowners. This transition from leadership to ownership, we believe, paves the way for impactful social change.
In collaboration with other social justice organizations, we strive to fortify democracy in the United States, making a profound difference in the lives of Latino and other marginalized communities.
