Social Media Marketing & Public Relations Intern

Chesterton Hills Consulting

About Us

Chesterton Hills Consulting is a full service consulting firm that provides bespoke advisory for Fortune 500 companies, high-growth startups, and mission-driven organizations on business transformation and growth strategy through project-based and fractional solutions. As we continue to grow our presence, we are investing in intentional, high-quality marketing that reflects the strategic caliber of our work.

About the Role

We are looking for a Social Media and Marketing Communications Intern to support communications initiatives across our digital platforms and, on a limited basis, selected client engagements. The intern will work in direct coordination with senior leadership and executive marketing advisors at the firm, who establish strategy, review messaging, and approve external communications. The intern’s role is to help develop and organize content and outreach.

You will contribute to professional communications while receiving regular feedback, guidance, and direction from experienced consultants and marketing leaders.

This position is structured as an apprenticeship-style experience. You will not be expected to operate alone. Instead, you will assist with drafting content, preparing materials, and implementing communications plans while learning how consulting firms manage both their own brand and client-facing messaging.

It is a strong fit for someone who enjoys writing and storytelling, wants exposure to professional services marketing, and is interested in understanding how strategy and communications intersect in a consulting environment.

  • ********Applicants must reside in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Do not apply if you do not live in DFW, you will be automatically rejected.*********

Job Responsibilities

  • Write and schedule social media posts across LinkedIn and selectively on Instagram, Facebook, and X
  • Translate consulting ideas, conversations, and rough notes into clear, readable public-facing content
  • Maintain and manage a forward-looking content calendar tied to firm and client initiatives and announcements
  • Draft outreach messages and professional correspondence consistent with the firm’s tone and positioning
  • Research and identify relevant professional communities, publications, and industry conversations where the firm should be visible
  • Monitor comments, messages, and engagement and surface items that require response or follow-up
  • Propose post ideas based on current business trends, market news, or client-relevant topics
  • Track engagement performance and summarize what is working, what is not, and why
  • Repurpose longer ideas into concise posts and short-form takeaways
  • Assist in preparing and promoting content around firm and client announcements, initiatives, and external activities
  • Organize drafts, ideas, and published content into a simple internal archive for future use

Ownership and Independence Expectations

  • Produce polished, publication-quality work you would be comfortable seeing attributed to a respected business publication or professional firm
  • Consistently deliver work on agreed timelines and take initiative to keep projects moving forward
  • Operate independently by proposing topics and next steps rather than waiting for assignments
  • Distill complex ideas and projects, developing them into publishable material
  • Exercise judgment about what is appropriate to publish for a professional consulting audience
  • Ask clarifying questions when necessary, but be comfortable making reasonable decisions without step-by-step instruction
  • Help establish processes and standards for a role that currently has no existing playbook

What You’ll Bring

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Advertising, Public Relations, or a related field. We will also consider candidates not currently pursuing a degree who can demonstrate a strong history of content creation and a portfolio of high-performing work
  • Excellent writing and editing skills
  • Highly organized, proactive, and detail-oriented
  • Intellectually curious with a desire to grow and learn
  • Interest in brand strategy, executive communications, or B2B marketing
  • Bonus: Experience creating and editing short-form video content (such as LinkedIn videos, Instagram Reels, or YouTube Shorts).
  • Bonus: Demonstrated social media or digital content experience.

What You’ll Gain

  • Meaningful, portfolio-worthy work. You will produce content that reflects real-world brand positioning and professional messaging for a high-trust consulting firm.
  • Professional visibility experience. Gain hands-on exposure to how strategy firms grow thought leadership and credibility in competitive markets.
  • Career mentorship. Receive direct, personalized guidance during your internship and after from the Managing Partner with experience across corporate, startup, and advisory sectors
  • A strong recommendation. Earn a professional reference that can support future job applications or graduate school admission.
  • A real understanding of brand-building strategy. Learn how digital content contributes to reputation, relationship-building, and client acquisition in the B2B space.
  • We will do our best to work with your university and advocate for you to receive college credit.

How to Apply

Please submit your resume. If you have a portfolio, please include a link to it with your application. Portfolio work can include content produced via internship, school clubs / associations, school assignments, or other relevant content. A link to a google document with links to any associated media is perfectly acceptable.
