About Walmart Connect

At Walmart Connect, we connect brands to Walmart’s 150 million weekly shoppers through meaningful, measurable media experiences. We’re redefining retail media by helping advertisers reach customers where it matters most — across digital, social and in-store environments. As Walmart’s closed-loop media business, our mission is to help brands grow while enhancing the shopping experience for customers. To bring that mission to life, we need creative communicators and storytellers who can shape how Walmart Connect shows up to the world — consistently, clearly and boldly.

About the role

We’re looking for a strategic and editorially savvy Senior Manager, Editorial Strategy to join the Brand & Content Strategy team and lead the development and scaling of Walmart Connect’s editorial ecosystem, transforming our refreshed unique value proposition into a disciplined, high-impact storytelling engine. This role will be responsible for shaping and activating a unified core narrative, setting editorial standards and governance, and driving excellence across content platforms and enterprise moments. The Senior Manager will lead both strategic direction and hands-on execution of key editorial programs, including blogs, thought leadership content, owned and internal event content strategy, and the evolution of scalable multimedia storytelling capabilities. They will bring a strong editorial point of view, a rigorous eye for quality and consistency, and the ability to translate complex ideas into compelling, audience-relevant stories. This role reports to the Director of Brand & Content Strategy and leads a team of editorial managers.

Key responsibilities

Core narrative and messaging

  • Own and refine the core Walmart Connect narrative, messaging and claims architecture, including proof-point governance and validation.
  • Ensure unified, differentiated storytelling across all channels, programs and moments.
  • Partner with Product Marketing, Communications, Media Insights, Growth Marketing and others to embed consistent messaging and narrative discipline across teams.

Thought leadership and editorial content

  • Drive Walmart Connect’s thought leadership strategy and POV across owned and internal formats (blogs, executive POVs, research-driven storytelling and event content).
  • Define the editorial themes, narratives and points of view that reinforce Walmart Connect’s leadership position in retail media.
  • Set and uphold editorial standards, voice and tone, serving as a senior editorial authority to ensure clarity, quality and narrative alignment across high-visibility content and executive moments.

Blog strategy and execution

  • Own and scale Walmart Connect’s blog as a strategic storytelling engine, establishing intake, governance and editorial workflows aligned to enterprise priorities and key moments.
  • Serve as editor-in-chief of the blog, partnering with Product Marketing, Comms, Media Insights, Growth Marketing and other contributors to shape, refine and elevate cross-functional content.
  • Define blog performance metrics and use insights to evolve editorial themes and formats to drive engagement, brand strength and sales enablement.

Owned and internal event content strategy

  • Serve as the content architect for Walmart Connect’s internal (e.g., Sales Summit and Year Beginning Meeting) and owned external events (e.g., Executive Council and Partner Connect), leading end-to-end content strategy and defining the overarching mission, narrative architecture, agenda design and storytelling framework.
  • Partner with executives and cross-functional teams to shape event programming, session narratives and speaker messaging — including providing content development support and coaching — aligned to enterprise priorities and value proposition.
  • Establish events as strategic editorial platforms, ensuring cohesive storytelling before, during and after each moment to amplify Walmart Connect’s unified narrative.

Multimedia and future content innovation

  • Contribute to the evolution of Walmart Connect’s multimedia storytelling strategy, including executive- and industry-led conversations that reinforce our leadership position in retail media.
  • Identify high-impact moments and develop amplification plans that extend conversations into multi-channel assets across blog, LinkedIn, YouTube, press and sales enablement.
  • Explore opportunities to build scalable, future-facing content capabilities, including evaluation of a potential in-house content studio model aligned to enterprise priorities.

Editorial calendar and cross-functional alignment

  • Partner with the Content Management team to shape and maintain the enterprise editorial calendar, establishing quarterly anchors aligned to key business priorities.
  • Define editorial calendar inputs driven by product launches, communications and business announcements, campaigns, owned events, industry moments, research and more.
  • Partner with the Content Management team and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure editorial priorities are integrated across product launches, campaigns, events and key business initiatives.

Core skills and competencies

  • Exceptional editorial judgment with outstanding writing and storytelling ability.
  • Strategic thinker with a deep understanding of how narrative and content drive brand positioning, industry influence and sales impact.
  • Experience building and scaling editorial systems and cross-functional content workflows at enterprise scale.
  • Executive presence and influence, with the ability to advise and coach senior leaders on messaging and narrative development.
  • Analytical mindset with experience defining success metrics and measuring the impact of editorial programs.

Key outputs

  • Annual enterprise editorial calendar, developed in partnership with the Content Management team and aligned to key business priorities, including blogs, speakerships, events, and milestone-based storytelling moments.
  • Codified core narrative, messaging and claims framework, including proof-point governance and validation, adopted consistently across teams and channels.
  • Scalable editorial operating model, including editorial calendar, governance and intake process.
  • Thought leadership content pipeline (blogs, executive POVs, research-driven storytelling) that advances Walmart Connect's UVP and industry point of view.
  • Editorial programming and content strategy for owned events (Executive Council, Partner Connect) and internal events (Sales Summit, YBM).
  • Strategic roadmap for evolving Walmart Connect’s multimedia storytelling capabilities, including exploration of a future in-house content studio model aligned to enterprise priorities.

Minimum qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in editorial and content strategy, journalism, communications or related marketing function.
  • Background in marketing, communications, journalism or related field.
  • Proven expertise in editorial leadership, strategic writing and content execution at scale.
