Role Overview

The Engineering Manager will lead a cross-functional team of software engineers responsible for building full-stack solutions across both backend and frontend systems. This leader will guide the team’s technical direction, ensure high-quality software delivery, and cultivate a collaborative environment that encourages innovation and professional growth.

In addition to managing day-to-day engineering execution, this role requires close partnership with product management, analytics teams, and business stakeholders to translate ideas into scalable technical solutions that enhance the live commerce experience.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Development

Lead and mentor a team of software engineers working across frontend and backend systems. Provide coaching, career development guidance, and continuous feedback to support individual growth and long-term team success.

Culture & Team Health

Build and sustain a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing team environment. Promote transparency, accountability, and a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

Engineering Delivery Ownership

Oversee the successful delivery of software projects by ensuring strong execution, clear priorities, and operational discipline. Guide teams to consistently deliver reliable, high-quality solutions.

Product Collaboration & Planning

Partner with product managers and stakeholders to define priorities, manage the product backlog, and ensure engineering efforts align with strategic goals and customer impact.

Cross-Team Collaboration

Work closely with engineering teams, product leaders, analysts, and business partners to design and scale innovative commerce experiences that support live shopping and real-time interactions.

Technical Strategy & Architecture

Define and communicate the technical vision for the team. Promote sound architectural decisions, scalable system design, and engineering practices that support long-term platform growth.

Complex Problem Solving

Guide engineers in addressing challenging technical issues related to distributed systems, scalability, performance optimization, and production reliability.

Balancing Delivery & Long-Term Strategy

Ensure near-term product delivery while also planning for long-term technical evolution, managing technical debt, and investing in sustainable architecture.

Organizational Collaboration

Work closely with peer engineering managers, senior technical leaders, and cross-functional teams to align on shared priorities and drive organization-wide engineering initiatives.

Talent Acquisition & Team Growth

Participate in hiring, onboarding, and workforce planning to build a strong, diverse engineering organization capable of supporting continued platform expansion.

Required Qualifications

Professional Experience

Approximately 10 or more years of experience in software engineering roles, including several years leading engineering teams or managing technical staff.

Engineering Leadership

Demonstrated experience managing and mentoring small to mid-sized engineering teams while fostering a high-performance, collaborative culture.

Distributed Systems Expertise

Strong technical background building and operating large-scale distributed systems designed for high availability, reliability, and scalability.

Delivery & Execution

Proven ability to drive consistent delivery of complex technical projects while maintaining high standards for performance, quality, and operational excellence.

Agile Development Practices

Experience working within Agile or Scrum-based development environments, including sprint planning, backlog prioritization, and continuous process improvement.

Communication & Influence

Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts, align cross-functional stakeholders, and influence decision-making at multiple organizational levels.

Product & Business Awareness

Strong understanding of how engineering solutions support business goals and customer experiences within large-scale consumer platforms.

Adaptability

Ability to quickly understand new technologies and guide teams through evolving technical challenges in fast-paced product environments.
