Job Summary of Market Manager

This position oversees store operations across a designated multi-state market, ensuring optimal performance in sales, staffing, inventory management, customer service, and profitability. This leadership role is responsible for driving compliance with company standards, mentoring store leadership teams, and delivering business results aligned with strategic goals. The position provides supervision to a defined district and supports ongoing operational improvement efforts.

Job Duties and Responsibilities of Market Manager:

  • Manage 4 to 8 store locations within a defined multi-state market.
  • Ensure achievement of sales and profit targets across all stores in the market.
  • Develop and implement store standards and merchandising strategies in coordination with district leadership.
  • Lead store teams in optimizing inventory control, labor efficiency, shipping, receiving, and expense reduction practices.
  • Conduct regular store visits to ensure compliance with company policies and operational excellence.
  • Guide hiring practices and leadership development initiatives including coaching, training, and performance evaluation.
  • Support talent development through Ollie's Leadership Institute and internal referral programs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Loss Prevention, Store Operations, and Inventory Control.
  • Motivate and inspire store leaders to drive associate engagement and customer satisfaction.
  • Manage strategic planning and forecasting across the market.
  • Ensure accurate completion of required reporting and implementation of company initiatives.

Qualifications and Experience of Market Manager

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Higher education in business manageament preferred, but not required.
  • Minimum of three years of supervisory experience in mid-size to large retail environments.
  • Strong planning, prioritization, and implementation skills.
  • Ability to communicate processes effectively across all levels of associates.
  • Solid understanding of selling, customer service, and training techniques.
  • Excellent interpersonal and judgment skills.
