We're growing fast, and we're looking for a data-driven, mission-aligned performance marketer to help us scale. The Role
As Zeteo's first dedicated Paid Marketing Manager, you'll own the strategy and execution of all paid acquisition channels — from paid social and search to newsletters, podcast sponsorships, and emerging digital formats. You'll be building from a strong organic foundation: we've grown primarily through the quality of our journalism and the passion of our audience. Now it's time to pour fuel on the fire. You'll report directly to leadership and work closely with editorial, product, and creative teams to drive paid subscriber growth, optimize cost-per-acquisition, and identify the next channels that can scale Zeteo's reach. This role is for someone who is hands-on, intellectually curious, and genuinely excited about independent journalism. We want a builder — someone who can move fast, test constantly, and turn data into decisions. What You'll Do: Paid Acquisition Strategy & Execution
Own end-to-end strategy and day-to-day management of paid campaigns across Meta, Google, YouTube, TikTok, Reddit, and emerging platforms
Build structured testing roadmaps to validate new channels, creative formats, and audience segments
Execute full-funnel tests — from creative development and audience targeting to bid strategy and landing page optimization
Develop and manage paid newsletter and podcast sponsorship placements with key media partners Performance & Budget Management
Manage and optimize a multi-channel paid media budget, tracking spend efficiency against CAC, ROAS, LTV, and payback period
Build reporting dashboards and deliver regular performance analyses with clear recommendations for leadership
Set subscriber acquisition targets and hit them — with the rigor and creativity to course-correct when needed Creative & Messaging
Partner with editorial and design to develop compelling ad creative and copy that converts — and that reflects Zeteo's distinct voice
Continuously iterate on messaging, formats, and audiences using data-driven feedback loops
Identify what's resonating with different audience segments (progressives, news junkies, the 'fed up with corporate media' crowd) and build acquisition strategies around it Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with product to optimize post-click experience, landing pages, and subscriber conversion flows
Partner with analytics to ensure campaigns are properly tracked, attributed, and reported
Collaborate with editorial on content amplification — turning our best journalism into acquisition fuel Who You Are
4–5 years of hands-on experience in performance marketing, paid acquisition, or growth marketing — ideally at a consumer media, subscription, or digital media company
Proven track record managing significant paid media budgets across Meta, Google, and YouTube, with measurable subscriber or customer acquisition results
Strong analytical skills — you're comfortable in data, can build a ROAS model, and translate campaign metrics into business insights and strategic decisions
Creative instincts — you understand what makes someone stop scrolling and click, and you know how to iterate your way to great creative
Mission-driven — you care about independent journalism and understand Zeteo's audience: people who are frustrated with mainstream media and hungry for fearless reporting
Builder mentality — you're excited to build a function from (near) scratch, thrive in ambiguity, and can operate both strategically and tactically
Experience with subscription or reader-revenue models is a strong plus — understanding LTV and the economics of a subscriber business matters here
Familiarity with Substack's ecosystem, newsletter advertising, or podcast sponsorship markets is a big bonus
