The Director of Transformation & Governance leads a high-performing team to drive strategic transformation initiatives across Shared Business Services (SBS) and as needed help support/guide other functions outside of SBS. This role is responsible for developing and executing projects that advance SBS’s journey to operational excellence, value creation, and customer satisfaction. They will not only work with USF internal stakeholders but also play a key role in success and governance of our managed services strategy.
The work for this position is completely remote anywhere in the United States except Hawaii or United States Territories.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
People Leadership & Talent Development (35%)
- Build a diverse, high performing team with the right talent capabilities, priding themselves on being strong business partners within the organization and externally.

- Ensure team member expectations are clearly defined and associates are held accountable for delivering results while providing regular feedback to develop talent and embrace our core values.
- Develop a robust talent pipeline with adequate succession planning and investments in growth and development of team members.
Strategy Development and Execution (25%)
- Collaborate across the SBS leadership team to capture the critical elements of their 2-3 strategic roadmaps and be able to generate portfolio reporting against those priorities.
- Support the build and execution of the Transformation team roadmap which considers synergies across various processes and teams to advance the value of the SBS, acting as a change champion across the enterprise.
- Drive strategic alignment and lead execution of key initiatives ranging from business process standardization, optimization, integrations, and project implementations.
- Help define our SBS portfolio management disciplines and ensure adherence across the functional towers, especially as it relates to new project intake, accurate status reporting, and tracking actuals.
- Establish a governance structure with the designated Managed Services provider to accelerate the value of the partnership and ensure appropriate strategic and operational oversight.
- Understand best practices within the industry and challenge current thinking to develop a highly effective organization.
- Facilitate initiative scoping discussions, defining success measures, and setting expectations for cross-functional teams with a focus on business outcomes and benefit realization.
- Communicate and lead through influence amongst all levels within the organization to support company initiatives.
Support Continuous Improvement and Operational Performance (35%)
- Define and execute the SBS continuous improvement strategy to advance the impact and be influential business partners.
- Educate/create a team of efficiency and change experts who can help drive/influence a continuous improvement mindset across workstreams within and external to SBS.
- Look for opportunities to provide enterprise-wide value by identifying common capabilities that scale across processes.
- Oversee a team supporting multiple highly impactful initiatives that range in size, complexity, and duration involving staff within organization and across functional teams.
- Demonstrated understanding of how to track or quantify operational process improvements across the SBS organization. Help others define necessary key results, deliverables, and technology platforms to ensure expected business outcomes.
- Accountable for governance of Managed Services provider and serve as liaison between stakeholders, functional counterparts, and SBS Operations leadership to ensure successful project and transformation delivery.
- Ensure successful execution of Managed Services Operations to consistently achieve performance targets, major deliverables, and committed business case value.
- Lead transition of new work into SBS organization, effectively structuring work within the optimal service delivery mode by evaluating current state and making recommendations for the move to shared services vs managed services.
- Leverage data and insights from Operations and Analytics to drive change, identify opportunities for standardization, and set consistency standards partnering with the right stakeholders to implement.
- Challenge legacy practices to identify automated solutions and drive out manual waste, spending more time on value added processes and analysis.
- Effectively design team to scale with business changes and initiatives.
Personal Development (5%)
- Create, refine, and execute individual development plan to grow within role or prepare for other opportunities.
- Engage in opportunities to learn and network both internally and externally to develop a well-rounded perspective and bring best in class practices to the role.
- Pursue personal and learning development opportunities such as Employee Resource Groups (ERG), LMS courses, webinars, etc.

RELATIONSHIPS
- Internal: SBS Functions, IT, I&A, Sales Leadership, Field Finance, Category Management, Replenishment, Pricing, Logistics, Supply Chain, Accounting and Finance
- External: US Foods Managed Service Provider, Technology Partners
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Remote: This role is fully remote, and the associate is expected to perform assigned responsibilities from a home-based environment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Eight (8) years of related experience which could include program management, leading through influence across multiple teams to deliver results.
- Seven (7) years of management and leadership experience including evidence of developing a high performing team.
- Strong experience leading transformational projects, establishing governance strategies and portfolio management.
- Outstanding verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability influencing multiple stakeholders at various levels in the organization, external customers, and vendors.
- Professional leadership skills, able to lead under pressure.
- Achieves results through collaborating effectively with others and team members.
- Significant change leadership experience for large scale organizations
- Outstanding verbal communication and interpersonal skills, able to interact across multiple stakeholders at various levels in the organization, external customers, and vendors.
- Ability to operate independently in a highly efficient manner; Superior organizational, problem solving and time management skills.
- Strategic thinker who can analyze and solve unique, complex problems that impact the customers’ experience or the organization.

- Strong performance management background to address disciplinary or performance concerns according to company policy.
- Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to learn proprietary US Foods systems and processes as necessary to support the project portfolio.
- Ability to travel up to 25%.
EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field required.
- Master’s or equivalent preferred experience may substitute for education.

- Prior US Foods cross functional experience, highly preferred
- Shared Services or Contact Center experience.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification

Compensation depends on relevant experience and/or education, specific skills, function, geographic location, and other factors as applicable by law (for example: state minimum wage thresholds). The expected base rate for this role is between
$115,000 - $185,000
