ROLE SUMMARY

Reporting directly to the President and CEO and serving on the Senior Leadership Team, the Director of Marketing and Communications provides strategic leadership that advances TWR Canada’s mission, strengthens brand presence, and supports ministry impact across Canada and around the world. This role oversees all organizational communication, including digital channels, public relations, print materials, direct mail strategy, and donor communication campaigns. The Director works closely with Development Officers to support fundraising appeals, major donor engagement, church relations, and communication needs for ministry impact tours. This role also coordinates with Donor Services to align data requirements for segmentation, reporting, and campaign execution. The Director leads staff and contract workers in producing accurate, timely, and mission-focused communication that grows engagement, participation, and revenue while maintaining a clear and consistent organizational voice. The ideal candidate is a mission-driven leader with strong communication, digital strategy, and relationship-building skills, passionate about sharing the Gospel through media.

Faith: as TWR Canada is a faith-based organization working primarily with Christians and those promoting the Christian faith, the person who holds this position must possess a sincere and enduring Christian faith that aligns with our organization’s faith statement. They must be regular attendees of a local Christian community. Annual signing of the statement of faith is to remain in this position.
A Christian Lifestyle: for similar reasons as above, the individual must have a lifestyle consistent with biblical Christianity. Annual signing of the Lifestyle statement is to remain in this position.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Leadership & Planning

Lead the development and implementation of a multi-channel marketing and communications strategy aligned with TWR Canada’s mission and organizational priorities.
Provide Christ-centred leadership that supports collaboration, creativity, and prayerful decision-making.
Guide departmental planning, team development, and budget stewardship.
Serve as a public ambassador for TWR Canada and support senior leadership with speaking materials, messaging, and media preparation.

Marketing, Digital Communications & Content Development

Oversee digital marketing initiatives, including website content, social media, email campaigns, newsletters, and online fundraising.
Manage production of print and digital materials that communicate ministry impact with clarity.
Direct the full communication workflow for direct mail, including strategy, content, segmentation needs, and performance assessment.
Ensure website content remains accurate, current, and aligned with ministry priorities.
Coordinate closely with Donor Services to support data needs for campaigns, including list preparation, segmentation, and reporting.

Media, Public Relations & Brand Stewardship

Build and maintain relationships with Christian media, churches, ministry partners, and influencers.
Prepare press releases, manage media campaigns, and address crisis communication needs when .
Maintain brand standards, voice guidelines, and consistent organizational messaging across all platforms.

Donor, Partner & Stakeholder Engagement Support

Support stakeholders spiritually and relationally, reflecting TWR Canada’s values.
Oversee donor-focused communication with Development Officers, including fundraising appeals, donor stewardship, and major donor materials.
Coordinate communication needs for ministry impact tours, national campaigns, and regional donor events.
Support communication with church partners, ensuring all materials and presentations reflect ministry priorities and current global work.

Team Leadership & Collaboration

Lead and support the Marketing and Communications team, setting goals, providing feedback, and encouraging creativity and accountability.
Lead in prayer and participate in staff spiritual rhythms, modelling Christ-like character.
Supervise marketing contract staff working on communication, design, digital, and media projects.
Collaborate across departments to maintain integrated, consistent messaging and smooth campaign execution.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

Spiritually mature Christian with alignment to TWR Canada’s mission, values, and Statement of Faith.
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or related experience
5-7 years of progressive marketing experience, preferably in non-profit or ministry context
Strong leadership skills, with the ability to be a change agent, inspiring others through creativity and innovation
Superior oral and written communication skills, with demonstrated experience writing articles, correspondence, reports, proposals, written and visual narratives, and other collateral for both print and digital publication across multiple channels for diverse audiences
Proficiency in digital tools (e.g., WordPress, graphic design platforms, email marketing systems such as Constant Contact) and understanding of compliance standards such as CASL and PIPEDA.
Strong project management and organizational abilities, in cross-functional team environment
Ability to translate complex information into clear, engaging narratives for diverse audiences
Legally entitled to work in Canada
A police background check and adherence to TWR Canada’s Statement of Faith are conditions of employment.

LOCATION & COMPENSATION

Permanent, full-time position (40 hours/week), during core business hours, Monday to Friday, based in our London, Ontario office
Occasional evening or weekend hours may be for TWR Canada events
Salary of $$72,000–$92,000 /year commensurate with education and experience
Three weeks’ vacation per year, pro-rated based on start date
Benefits package includes dental, extended health care, life insurance, and Employee Assistance Program (EAP) available after the probationary period
