A national financial services organization is seeking a Strategic Marketing Consultant to lead a high-visibility diverse audience engagement initiative within its Education Savings division.

Engagement Overview

Duration: Four-Month Contract (April–July 2026)

Hours: Approximately 20 hours per week

Location: Remote (Candidates must reside in the DC Metro Area (DC, VA, MD) or the Boston Metro Area (MA, NH, RI)

Rate: $70-$80/hr

Benefits: Not offered for part-time or contract positions

Position Summary

This engagement requires a senior-level strategic marketing consultant to develop a comprehensive framework designed to increase participation in state-sponsored savings programs among diverse and underserved audiences.

The consultant will serve as a thought partner to senior stakeholders, guiding research, defining audience frameworks, synthesizing insights, and delivering executive-ready strategic recommendations to inform 2027 planning.

This is not a tactical marketing execution role. It requires strong strategic judgment, experience operating in regulated environments, and the ability to translate complex inputs into clear direction for leadership and client-facing teams.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Framework Development

  • Lead the end-to-end development of a multi-market strategic framework to increase participation among diverse audiences.
  • Establish clear definitions and parameters for “diverse audiences” in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
  • Clarify the positioning and relevance of state-sponsored savings programs across different communities.
  • Develop measurable goals and success metrics to inform implementation planning.
  • Provide near-term and multi-year budget guidance in partnership with internal leadership

Research & Insight Leadership

  • Design and oversee a structured research approach incorporating audience insights, segmentation analysis, competitive benchmarking, and program landscape review.
  • Identify relevant state and national initiatives supporting target demographic groups.
  • Synthesize qualitative and quantitative findings into actionable strategic recommendations.

Cross-Functional Strategy Leadership

  • Serve as strategic partner to the Education Savings Marketing lead.
  • Facilitate working sessions with Marketing, Relationship Management, and senior leadership.
  • Maintain structured milestones and governance cadence to ensure alignment and momentum.
  • Guide consensus-building across multiple stakeholder groups.

Executive Communication

  • Translate complex research and regulatory inputs into executive-ready presentations.
  • Develop materials tailored for internal leadership, Relationship Management teams, and external client partners.
  • Support leaders in confidently articulating strategic direction and recommendations.

Required Experience

  • 10–15+ years of experience in strategic marketing consulting, financial services strategy, public-sector initiatives, or enterprise-level program leadership.
  • Demonstrated success leading complex, cross-functional strategic initiatives.
  • Experience operating within regulated financial services or government-adjacent environments.
  • Strong background in audience segmentation and data-driven marketing strategy.
  • Proven ability to synthesize complex information into executive-level insight.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and facilitation skills.
  • Experience working across multiple markets or regions.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with state-sponsored financial products or education savings programs.
  • Background in inclusive marketing strategies or equitable access initiatives.
  • Experience supporting government or state-level clients.
  • Consulting experience within financial services or mission-driven sectors.
