Job description: Scope of Position

San Diego, CA based EDF Renewables delivers grid-scale power: wind (onshore and offshore), solar photovoltaic, and storage projects; distributed solutions: solar, solar+storage, EV charging and energy management; and asset optimization: technical, operational, and commercial skills to maximize performance of generating projects. We have an opportunity for a VP - IT and Digital Transformation.

The executive role has overall responsibility for information technology and digital transformation. This includes the leadership of activities such as system architecture, data & analytics, user design & change management and digital product development. Leader will have the responsibility to lead the deployment of new and emerging digital technologies/processes to increase business value, add efficiencies and solve business problems. They will also play a key role in continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring an efficient and secure IT environment, and creating operational excellence in IT service delivery. The ideal candidate will be a strong leader, capable of respectfully challenging and partnering with organizational senior leadership as well as delivering results. They are expected to develop and drive a strategic roadmap, mentor and coach technical leaders and contribute to/support the overall strategic and operating visions of the company, database and enterprise content management, global network connectivity, and telecommunications.

In addition, the leader is expected to oversee all digital transformation strategy initiatives by providing support, structure, and governance and help turn ideas into a prioritization funnel of initiatives. They will focus on value creation throughout the EDF Renewables organization by leveraging digital products and tools; partner with business leaders, digital transformation agents and cross-functional teams to support the company’s digital vision. Ensure alignment of digital transformation initiatives with IT operations, cloud operations, and research & development (R&D).

Responsibilities

IT Leadership

  • Develop and implement a multi-year global technology strategy to support critical business initiatives and activities
  • Develop strategies for scaling and supporting the technical infrastructure in the areas of data centers, operational control centers, end user computing, collaboration services, network, telecom, and security servDevelops sourcing strategies commensurate with the financial, technology, regulatory and resource requirements of the business
  • Manage the outsourcing of key services by partnering with specific service providers.
  • Manage operations and support organizations to provide 7x24 mission critical technology services.
  • Budget, plan, and control operating costs, capital project costs and all technical spend.
  • Provide strong technical leadership in the architecting and delivery of core infrastructure services including enterprise computing services (physical, virtual and cloud), multi-tier storage and performance analysis in support of rigorous failover and disaster recovery plans.
  • Provide the day-to-day management and support necessary to ensure the reliability, integrity, security, and recoverability of all systems, including voice, data, and video infrastructure.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain a viable, sustainable, and fully validated backup and disaster recovery system for core corporate components.
  • Recognize and track ROI and value added of digital product across the enterprise.
  • Ensure compliance and adequacy/integrity of IT Security and Controls for audit purposes.
  • Provide and implement recommendations for upgrade, replacement, virtualization and/or expansion of existing computer systems and storage systems.
  • Responsible for overseeing the successful deployment of desktop and computer system patches, monitoring system diagnostics & health checks including performance monitoring, sizing, tuning and preventative maintenance as required.
  • Responsible for the delivery of customer experience and IT support.
  • Act as a liaison with parent company in France as well as other companies within the EDF Group with a goal of ensuring coordination and transparency.

Digital Transformation Leadership

  • Develop and enforce a minimum set of standards and methodologies to be used for digital products across the organization.
  • Establish common processes and documentation to enable product teams to deliver within the organization’s guiding principles and to ensure products deliver expected value.
  • Provide the organization with a curated blend of best practices, industry trends, emerging thoughts, and practical experience and develop them into digital practices that support agile behavior for individuals, teams, and the organization.
  • Promote the use of user-centered design and change management tools, frameworks, and processes to ensure best engagement, maximization of efficiencies and delivery of value across the enterprise.
  • Establish the desired digital working culture and increase awareness via trainings and practices designed to support that new culture.
  • Maintain and govern platforms and digital center of excellence (data analytics, automation and change management), keep track and monitor people skills transformation.
  • Develop an effective method for, and facilitation of, lessons learned to avoid common pitfalls and refine best practices.
  • Inventory and Leverage Assets
  • Establish systems that enable cross team transparency and facilitate collaboration for all digital products and efforts within the North American domain. Seek out opportunities to leverage work done by other teams for reuse measure performance.
  • Enable investment in the most value driven projects by establishing intake, valuation, and performance measurement processes and tools.
  • Oversee digital innovation including roadmap development and milestone setting for successful implementation.
  • Implement metrics to evaluate effectiveness of communication plan delivery for assigned transformation initiatives. Use metrics to inform strategic plans on how to improve, enhance or innovate future communications.
  • Manage a team of project managers or scrum masters in charge of delivering digital products for the business units and corporate functions.
  • Create process for tracking team effectiveness and engagement. Forecast needed skills based on digital roadmap. Facilitate the personal development of the digital team.
  • Manage high performing digital teams including resource planning and allocation of high demand digital skills to maximize value delivered to the company.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Engineering, Business or related major.
  • 15 years of work experience in information technology and digital transformation to include 7 years of overseeing and leading large, complex teams with 50+ more employees.

Preferred

  • Renewable energy specific knowledge and experience in governance, risk, compliance, or operational functions (NERC/CIP).
  • Advanced degree in IT, Engineering, Business or related major.
