Marketing & Publicity Specialist

Insight Editions is seeking a talented Publicity & Marketing Specialist to support licensed and trade publishing projects across pop culture, video games, and entertainment. This role reports to the Director of Publicity and will work closely with internal teams, licensors, creators, and authors to execute impactful, data-informed campaigns.

The ideal candidate brings strong project management skills, hands-on publicity and marketing experience, and a deep passion for pop culture. This position requires at least 4 years of recent experience working with books or consumer products, along with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and collaborate across departments.

A successful candidate will be creative, highly organized, and comfortable using consumer insights and marketplace data to inform strategy throughout the campaign lifecycle. Passion for fandoms, publishing, and the evolving publicity landscape is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute integrated marketing and publicity strategies for assigned frontlist titles
  • Partner cross-functionally with internal teams, authors, creators, and licensors to plan and activate PR, social, and marketing campaigns that drive preorders, sell-in, and sell-through
  • Manage multiple projects and titles simultaneously, balancing competing deadlines while maintaining attention to detail and strategic focus
  • Pitch and secure earned media coverage across trade, consumer, and entertainment outlets, including interviews, features, and guest appearances
  • Plan and coordinate press events, signings, and in-person author engagements in support of publicity campaigns
  • Collaborate with licensors as active partners to amplify campaigns through coordinated cross-promotional efforts
  • Provide copy and creative direction for digital assets, advertisements, trade and consumer marketing materials, and promotional items
  • Develop and implement digital and social media marketing strategies designed to authentically reach and engage each book’s target audience
  • Identify, engage, and manage influencer partnerships to support book promotion and extend campaign reach
  • Leverage consumer insights and marketplace trends to refine strategies and effectively target key audiences
  • Communicate marketing and publicity initiatives through internal and external meetings, including author meetings, and through regular written updates
  • Own campaigns end-to-end, managing timelines, communication, and execution with minimal oversight

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 4 years as a book or consumer-products publicist or marketer
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to generate creative angles and pitches
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under deadlines
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Discretion with proprietary and embargoed content
  • Interest in pop culture, entertainment, video games
  • Ability to multi-task and problem-solve
  • Experience running and tracking campaigns

This is a full-time position and can be fully-remote. Insight Editions offers a 401k savings program, employer-paid health insurance, vision insurance, dental insurance, paid sick leave, and paid vacation time.
