Description: About Pilot John International

Pilot John International® (PJi®) stands at the forefront of the aviation industry, delivering innovative, customer-driven solutions for aircraft maintenance equipment and supply needs. We are committed to being the premier global source for ground support equipment (GSE), aircraft parts, avionics and test equipment, consumables, and pilot supplies. With decades of experience and a dedicated team, PJi delivers unmatched service through expert guidance and responsive support to private and commercial aviation entities worldwide.

Position Summary

The E-Commerce Marketing Specialist is a detail-oriented, digitally fluent professional responsible for driving PJi’s e-commerce performance through product management, search optimization, and targeted digital marketing. This role sits at the center of our online sales operation, ensuring that products are accurately listed, optimized for discovery, and supported by smart paid advertising and audience strategy.

Working closely with the E-Commerce Coordinator and reporting to the Marketing Manager, this position plays a hands-on role in getting products live, maintaining catalog quality, conducting keyword and competitor research, and supporting paid ad campaigns that drive qualified traffic to PJi’s digital storefronts. The ideal candidate blends strong e-commerce instincts with digital marketing expertise and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment where attention to detail and data-driven decision-making are equally valued.

Key Responsibilities

E-Commerce Product Management

Collaborate with the Marketing Manager and E-Commerce Coordinator to get new products live on the PJi website, including data entry, categorization, product group mapping, image assignment, and quality review prior to publish.

Conduct regular product catalog audits to identify and correct inaccuracies, gaps in content, missing images, broken links, or outdated pricing, ensuring every listing meets PJi’s standards for accuracy and completeness.

Maintain and improve existing product pages by refreshing descriptions, optimizing titles, and ensuring all attributes are correctly populated to support both search visibility and customer confidence.

Support the E-Commerce Coordinator in managing product data feeds, variant structures, and accessory/upsell relationships across product families.

Assist in coordinating seasonal promotions, featured product placements, and category merchandising to align the storefront with marketing campaigns and inventory priorities.

E-Commerce SEO & Keyword Research

Perform in-depth keyword research using SEMrush and other tools to identify high-value search terms, long-tail opportunities, and competitive gaps relevant to PJi’s product catalog.

Apply keyword strategy to product titles, meta descriptions, alt text, and on-page content to improve organic search rankings and drive qualified traffic to product pages.

Monitor keyword performance and search trends to continuously refine product content and surface new optimization opportunities to the Marketing Manager and E-Commerce Coordinator.

Conduct competitive SERP analysis to understand how PJi products rank against competitors and identify actionable improvements in content, structure, or targeting.

Audience Targeting & Analytics

Define and document customer audience segments across PJi’s product categories to build a clear picture of who is buying, what they’re searching for, and how to reach them most effectively.

Leverage Google Analytics (GA4), platform dashboards, and e-commerce reporting tools to track product performance, conversion rates, and traffic sources — sharing regular insights with the Marketing Manager.

Identify trends in customer behavior, seasonal demand, and high-margin product categories to inform both content strategy and paid media investment.

Paid Advertising Support

Plan and manage paid ad campaigns across Google Ads, Microsoft (Bing) Ads, Meta Ads, and LinkedIn Ads in support of PJi’s e-commerce goals — with an emphasis on driving product-specific traffic that converts.

Build and maintain campaign structures, ad groups, keyword lists, and negative keyword libraries that reflect PJi’s product catalog and customer categories.

Write ad copy — including headlines, descriptions, site link extensions, and callouts — optimized for each platform and aligned with active promotions and product priorities.

Monitor campaign performance against key metrics (CTR, CPC, CPA, ROAS) and make data-informed optimizations on a regular cadence, reporting results to the Marketing Manager.

Conduct A/B tests on ad copy, landing pages, and audience segments to continuously improve campaign efficiency and conversion rates.

Manage paid ad budgets with careful pacing and allocation, ensuring spend is directed toward the highest-value products and audiences.

PR & Media Opportunity Development

Assist the Marketing and Product Development team to actively monitor the aviation and media landscape for new product releases, aviation trade press, and partnership opportunities. This role would help identify new product lines and PR openings that could amplify PJi’s brand reach.

Evaluate identified opportunities for strategic fit and pass actionable recommendations to the Marketing Manager for review and implementation.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Serve as a primary day-to-day collaborator with the Marketing Manager and E-Commerce Coordinator, proactively communicating on product needs, launch timelines, content gaps, and campaign alignment.

Partner with the Marketing Manager to ensure paid media strategy, product content, and promotional messaging are aligned across all channels.

Work with the broader marketing team — including the Content Writer, Web Designer, and Creative Content Producer — to ensure e-commerce product pages and campaigns are supported by strong visuals, copy, and an easy-to-use customer experience.

Qualifications

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, E-Commerce, or a related field preferred; equivalent professional experience considered.

Required Experience

3+ years of professional experience in e-commerce, preferably with direct responsibility for product catalog management, listing optimization, and online sales performance.

Demonstrated experience conducting keyword research and applying SEO best practices to product content in an e-commerce environment.

Hands-on experience managing paid digital ad campaigns across Google Ads and at least one additional major platform (Microsoft Ads, Meta Ads, or LinkedIn Ads).

Proven ability to audit and improve large product catalogs for accuracy, completeness, and search visibility.

Required Skills & Tools

Strong working knowledge of e-commerce platforms and unique CMS tools (e.g., Shift4Shop, Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento, or similar).

Proficiency in SEMrush or a comparable keyword research and competitive intelligence platform.

Experience with Google Ads and Google Analytics (GA4), including conversion tracking and e-commerce reporting.

Solid understanding of SEO principles as applied to product pages — titles, meta descriptions, structured data, and on-page content.

Strong data analysis skills with the ability to interpret performance metrics, identify trends, and translate findings into clear recommendations.

Excellent attention to detail — this role handles large volumes of product data and accuracy is non-negotiable.

Strong written communication skills, particularly for product copy, ad copy, and internal reporting.

Highly organized and capable of managing multiple projects, deadlines, and cross-functional relationships simultaneously.

Proficiency with AI-powered tools is expected. The ideal candidate actively uses AI to work smarter and move faster in a high-volume environment, but does not rely solely on AI for output.

Preferred (Bonus) Skills

Background in B2B and B2C e-commerce or industrial/technical product marketing.

Knowledge of the aviation industry or a strong interest in technical subject matter.
