The Finance Transformation team is central to our mission, striving to create a scalable, efficient, and compliant finance function. We collaborate with leaders in the Finance organization to implement process automation, optimize systems, and engineer strategic solutions. Our efforts are crucial for navigating the rapid growth and complexities of the cryptocurrency landscape.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the Strategy: Develop and execute a strategic roadmap focused on finance process automation, AI-driven insights, and system enhancements, aligning closely with the global Finance vision and company-wide goals.
• Lead High-Impact Projects: Oversee complex cross-functional transformation projects such as new system implementations, AI/ML finance applications, shared services design, post-acquisition integrations, and robotic process automation initiatives.
• Be the Expert: Serve as the principal subject matter expert on finance operations, identifying high-impact optimization and automation opportunities.
• Drive Execution & Compliance: Cultivate a culture of quality and compliance by overseeing business requirement documentation and ensuring effective user acceptance testing and SOX-compliant change management.
• Manage Senior Stakeholders: Collaborate with senior leaders across Accounting, FP&A, Tax, Procurement, and Treasury to prioritize and manage high-priority initiatives, keeping stakeholders informed of progress and risks.
• Lead & Mentor: Guide and develop a team of transformation professionals, fostering a collaborative culture that aligns with Coinbase values.
• Bridge Business and Tech: Work closely with Enterprise Applications and Data Science teams to define the finance technology landscape and ensure alignment with broader technical architecture.
• User First Mindset: Act as a champion for finance users during tech implementations, creating effective change management and training programs.

What We Look For

• Experience: At least 8+ years in finance transformation, consulting (Big 4), or a senior financial operations role.
• Leadership: 3-5+ years of formal leadership and team management experience.
• Project Management: Proven success in leading complex, large-scale finance projects from inception to execution.
• Finance Expertise: Profound knowledge of finance and accounting processes and related technologies.
• Communication Skills: Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills with the capability to influence and align with senior leadership.
• Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills to navigate ambiguity and deliver effective solutions.
• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

• CPA, MBA, or PMP certification.
• Experience in a dynamic, high-growth tech, fintech, or crypto environment.
• Hands-on involvement with post-acquisition finance integrations or shared services setups.
• Expertise in automation technologies (AI, ML, RPA) and specific finance systems (e.g., NetSuite, Zip P2P, Anaplan).
• Process re-engineering expertise.
