  • *Job Description**

The SEO Manager is responsible for managing and executing organic search strategies to improve the search engine visibility and rankings of their clients’ websites.

They will lead two direct reports: an SEO Specialist and a Technical SEO Assistant, and combine hands-on client management with team leadership, requiring both advanced SEO expertise, along with superb communication and people management skills.

  • *Core responsibilities include:**
  • Strategic Oversight: Responsible for SEO strategy across managed client accounts (e.g., will manage clients as well as lead direct reports).
  • Resource Allocation: Distributing work across team members and optimizing client capacity for direct reports.
  • Quality Assurance: Reviewing work from direct reports and providing feedback and training.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Working with other department leads on integrated campaigns
  • Conducting keyword research to identify high-value target keywords and phrases. Analyzing competitor rankings for those keywords.
  • Performing technical SEO audits to identify issues and opportunities to improve site indexing, page speed, technical errors, etc.
  • Optimizing on-page elements such as page titles, meta descriptions, headers, content, image alt text, etc. to improve relevancy for target keywords.
  • Optimizing existing content like blog posts and service pages that target relevant topics and keywords.
  • Using Google Analytics, Search Console, and other tools to track key SEO metrics such as rankings, organic traffic, conversions, and report on optimization efforts.
  • Monitoring search algorithms and best-practice changes to identify potential impacts and opportunities.
  • Collaborating with development, content, project management, and support teams to align SEO with business goals.
  • Executing monthly SEO strategies for clients and compiling reports and work summaries to keep clients apprised of their organic search performance and progress.

The ideal SEO Specialist has 3+ years of experience executing organic search strategies and understands the fundamentals of digital marketing, specifically SEO. While content writing experience is not required, the candidate should be comfortable editing content to improve relevance and possess the written and verbal communication skills necessary to answer client questions and explain common SEO tactics to clients and stakeholders.
