Communications & Marketing Director

SUMMARY

The Communications & Marketing Director leads and executes the organization’s communications and marketing strategy for a large, multi-site Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) serving diverse communities. This role is both strategic and hands-on — responsible not only for setting direction but also for developing content, managing campaigns, writing materials, and ensuring consistent brand execution across all platforms. The Director advances the organization’s mission by strengthening community awareness, supporting service line growth, enhancing employee engagement, promoting health equity, and ensuring communications compliance within a CCBHC and public funding environment. This role requires a strong writer, storyteller, project manager, and brand steward who thrives in a fast-paced healthcare setting.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive communications and marketing strategy aligned with the organization’s strategic plan and CCBHC requirements.
  • Translate complex behavioral health services, crisis response systems, integrated care models, and outcome data into clear, compelling messaging.
  • Partner with executive leadership to shape organizational messaging and public positioning.
  • Develop measurable KeyPerformanceIndicatorsfor marketing and engagement efforts.
  • Write and edit press releases, website content, newsletters, social media posts, internal communications, impact reports, and executive messaging.
  • Personally develop core campaign messaging and high-visibility materials.
  • Oversee and contribute to photography, video storytelling, and digital content production.
  • Maintain and regularly update website content to reflect services, access points, crisis services, and compliance language.
  • Develop marketing materials to support outpatient services, crisis services, substance use treatment, integrated primary care, and specialty programs.
  • Oversee social media strategy and execution, including analytics and performance tracking.
  • Develop and manage internal communications strategy to support engagement across multiple sites and disciplines.
  • Create CEO communications, staff newsletters, leadership updates, and change management messaging.
  • Serve asmedialiaison and primary contact for press inquiries.
  • Draft media statements and crisis communications as needed.
  • Build strong relationships with local and regional media, community partners, and advocacy organizations.
  • Support organizational initiatives including workforce recruitment, retention campaigns, employee recognition programs, and major operational changes.
  • Ensure all communications align with CCBHC certification requirements, HIPAA regulations, and state/federal guidelines.
  • Maintains core competencies in relation to working with co-occurring disorders through continuing education and implementing skills into all aspects of treatment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, or related fieldrequired.
  • 5+ years of progressive communications and marketing experience.
  • Experience in nonprofit healthcare, behavioral health, community health, or human servicesstronglypreferred.
  • Experience supporting large, multi-site organizations preferred.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
  • Ability to translate clinical and regulatory language into clear public messaging.
  • Strong project management skills withabilityto manage multiple priorities.
  • Knowledge of digital marketing platforms, CMS systems, email marketing tools, and analytics.
  • Experiencemanaging internal communications in complex organizations.
  • Understanding of CCBHC model and public behavioral health systemshighlydesirable.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must have the ability to stand or sit forlong periodsof time
  • Must have the ability to lift, push, or pull a minimum of 25 pounds
  • Ability to travel approximately 10% ofthetime
  • Ability to use telephone, PC, fax machine, copy machine, and printer
