Our Organization

Cherish Integrated Services (CHIS) is a registered non-profit social services organization incorporated on May 18, 2010. This organization was founded to provide services and support to promote social inclusion of persons with developmental disabilities in their communities. We are dedicated to provide systematic and holistic training programs with the concept of Structured Teaching as the core program model for the service recipients. We treasure and believe in the uniqueness and dignity of individuals, and aim to enhance their individual social functioning in daily living; help support them to live, work and actively participate in a wide range of daily activities.

As a summer worker, you will have the opportunity to experience the rewarding work of supporting those with developmental disabilities in the community. You will also gain unique professional experience working in the non-profit sector.

Responsibilities

  • Design and edit web pages to provide updated information, promote services and events, and organize information in an accessible format
  • Create new website features for emerging service needs including e-commerce and fundraising events
  • Promote services and events by managing website pages, social media, communications, and marketing components
  • Utilize skills in photography, videography, and graphics design to create engaging and effective promotional materials
  • Implements marketing and advertising campaigns for special events by preparing marketing and advertising strategies, plans, and objectives
  • Provide administrative and technical support for Special Events, including fundraising, outreach, and outing events. Tasks include scheduling meetings, taking detailed meeting minutes, organizing catering and venues, liaising with the project committee or partners, organizing documents and forms, purchasing materials, and providing administrative support on the day of the event.
  • Support administrative needs related to fundraising including creating fundraising packages and letters, contacting sponsors and donors, purchasing materials for funded projects, managing budget and receipts, etc.
  • Create a social media/ promotions calendar
  • Monitor social media channels for industry trends.
  • Interact with users and respond to social media messages, inquiries, and comments
  • Any other assignments as instructed by the supervisor

Requirements

  • Post-Secondary degree (completed or in progress) in a relevant field such as Business, Marketing, Communications, Social Services, etc.
  • Minimum 1 year experience working in a professional setting
  • Previous experience in web development, using Wordpress, and familiar with social media platforms
  • Familiarity with Photoshop, Canva, and video editing software
  • Familiarity with the non-profit sector and a heart to help people with developmental disabilities
  • Must be fluent in English. fluency in Mandarin, Cantonese or a second language is an asset.
  • Clear Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Familiarity with common technological devices and softwares such as Google Apps, Microsoft Office, etc.
  • All staff are required to be fully vaccinated as a condition of hire. Candidates will be required to show proof of vaccination during the recruitment process.

Eligibility (as per Canada Summer Jobs funding)

  • be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment;
  • be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment;
  • have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
