Overview
The Project Manager III is responsible for end-to-end leadership of strategic projects within the Initiative & Change Management (ICM) organization. This role manages project scope, schedules, budgets, risks, change impacts, and deliverables while partnering directly with Business Sponsors, Business Leads, and cross-functional stakeholders. The PM ensures consistent governance, reporting, interdependency identification, and alignment across all ICM initiatives to support organizational efficiency and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Execution
- Develop complete Program Charters, Project Charters, and Project Plans covering scope, schedule, budget, resources, and milestones.
- Lead projects from concept to execution ensuring alignment with expected business outcomes.
- Coordinate cross-functional project resources and manage master project schedules.
- Apply ICM’s fit-for-purpose stage-gating methodology, using approved tools and templates.
- Conduct and support business case development, current/future state analysis, and system implementation planning.
- Manage risks, issues, change requests, lessons learned, and project documentation.
Business Process Optimization
- Support process harmonization across departments; identify gaps and automation opportunities.
- Collaborate with Business Analysts; perform peer reviews for QA/QC on project deliverables.
- Ensure change impacts are assessed and appropriate change management plans are in place.
Governance, Reporting & Communication
- Establish governance structure and deliver recurring bi-weekly and monthly performance and risk reports.
- Present updates to senior leadership, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and visibility of project KPIs.
- Balance and execute multiple concurrent projects with varying complexity.
Cross-Functional & Operational Support
- Act as both Project Manager and Business Analyst for special initiatives when required.
- Partner with:
- GTM Training Management for training needs assessment and documentation readiness.
- GTM TIS Management for system enhancements and implementations.
- Support business areas including asset management, pipeline integrity, facility integrity, work management, and compliance.
Scope & Impact
- Responsible for delivering ICM projects that significantly impact safety, efficiency, and operational performance across Gas Transmission and Midstream Operations (GTMO).
- Drive continuous improvement, innovation, and strategic value for GTMO stakeholders.
- Identify and manage project interdependencies across initiatives and departments.
Working Relationships
- Partner with Business Leads, Business Sponsors, and Executive Sponsors for chartering, scoping, risk management, and lessons learned.
- Collaborate daily with project teams, SMEs, training teams, IT teams, and leadership.
- Provide recommendations, task support, and decision facilitation to peers and leadership.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent hands-on experience.
- 7–10 years project management experience in the oil & gas industry, particularly supporting field operations.
- Strong knowledge of business process optimization and cross-functional project coordination.
- Proven experience delivering complex, strategic projects with multi-disciplinary teams.
- Ability to simplify and communicate highly technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
- Proficiency in:
- Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint)
- MS Project, Visio, and PM collaboration tools
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, negotiation, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to lead resources outside direct reporting lines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications:
- PMP (Project Management Professional)
- PBA (Professional Business Analyst)
- Six Sigma
- Prosci Change Management
- Internal Audit experience.
- Strong understanding of IT systems and their integration with business workflows.
Working Conditions
- Hybrid work model: office + remote.
- Minimal travel unless assigned to field-focused special projects.
- Possible overtime depending on project demands.
- Ability to sit for extended periods; occasional light lifting (up to 20 lbs).
- Must manage numerous competing priorities and influence stakeholders across levels.
