Duties

  • Safely operate a range of commercial vehicles such as box trucks, shuttle vans, or heavy equipment to deliver packages to customers promptly.
  • Load and unload shipments using tools like pallet jacks or forklifts when necessary, ensuring items are secured properly for transit.
  • Follow designated routes accurately while maintaining communication with dispatchers for updates or route adjustments.
  • Conduct routine vehicle inspections before and after shifts to ensure safety standards are met; perform basic mechanical checks when needed.
  • Maintain detailed logs of deliveries, mileage, fuel consumption, and vehicle condition in compliance with company policies.
  • Interact professionally with customers during delivery to confirm receipt and address any questions or concerns with excellent communication skills.
  • Adhere to all traffic laws and safety regulations, including those related to heavy haul, tanker operations, or school bus driving if applicable.

Experience

  • Proven experience in commercial driving, delivery driving, or shuttle driving with a focus on route driving or freight transportation.
  • Familiarity with operating various commercial vehicles such as box trucks, tractor-trailers, flatbeds, or heavy equipment like forklifts and dump trucks.
  • Mechanical knowledge to perform basic vehicle maintenance checks and troubleshoot minor issues confidently.
  • Prior warehouse experience or working in logistics environments is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Strong communication skills for coordinating routes and interacting professionally with team members and customers.
  • Ability to move heavy loads using equipment like pallet jacks or yard jockeys safely and efficiently.
  • Valid driver’s license appropriate for the vehicle type driven; CDL license preferred but not always required depending on the vehicle fleet.
