The Marketing Legal team serves as the primary advisors to Coinbase's global marketing and growth teams, managing a diverse range of responsibilities such as reviewing creative materials, negotiating marketing contracts, and designing promotions. Our team also assists product teams in effectively communicating with both existing and prospective Coinbase customers.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as a trusted legal consultant for the Marketing and Growth teams, focusing on launching brand campaigns, negotiating sponsorship agreements, managing advertising claims, and coordinating promotions.
• Stay informed about the evolving global regulatory landscape, translating complex international laws into clear and actionable guidance to empower the Marketing team to execute cross-border campaigns confidently.
• Streamline and enhance legal advice to ensure efficient operations as the business expands.
• Demonstrate adaptability and responsiveness in a fast-paced environment, swiftly addressing leadership needs.
• Collaborate with other members of the Coinbase Legal team to identify and resolve broader issues impacting Marketing and Growth.
• Manage outside counsel as necessary while honing your expertise in the field.

What We Seek

• Experience supporting global marketing teams, including the review of advertising materials across various media, advising on claims substantiation, and drafting necessary disclosures.
• Proven ability to independently oversee the complete lifecycle of brand campaigns, including business affairs aspects.
• Strong risk assessment skills, focusing on providing strategic legal solutions pertaining to intellectual property rights, publicity rights, trademarks, copyrights, and compliance with user-generated content.
• Experience with domestic and international sweepstakes, contests, and promotional activities.
• Extensive experience structuring and negotiating complex marketing agreements with sophisticated partners.
• Adept at managing intricate projects across multiple time zones under tight deadlines.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to build lasting relationships with Marketing and Growth teams, delivering coordinated legal advice aligned with business goals.
• Ability to provide clear and actionable legal counsel to a diverse range of business clients with minimal oversight.
• Comfortable working independently in a vibrant, high-growth environment that adheres to regulatory standards and Coinbase's high expectations.
• Willingness to engage in all types of tasks, regardless of size.

Preferred Qualifications

• A genuine enthusiasm for and understanding of cryptocurrency.
• Experience in a business affairs capacity.
• Knowledge of privacy, intellectual property, and financial services laws relevant to marketing and cryptocurrency.
• Experience supporting policy-related advocacy campaigns.

Pay Transparency Notice: Depending on your work location, the target annual base salary for this position ranges between $183,855 and $216,300 USD. Full-time offers from Coinbase also include bonus eligibility, equity eligibility, and benefits (including medical, dental, vision, and 401(k)).
