About the Role

This is a strategic, hands-on digital marketing leadership role at a small, independent publishing house with titles spanning gaming, food and drink, graphic novels, general reference, home decor, card decks, and children's books. The company works with major licensed brands and bestselling authors.

The Associate Director will own digital advertising, social media, influencer marketing, and ecommerce across paid and organic channels, while also managing and mentoring an Associate Publicist running publicity campaigns for lead titles and top-tier brand partnerships.

What the Role Covers

  • Planning, budgeting, and executing digital advertising, social media, and influencer campaigns across paid and organic channels for frontlist and select backlist titles
  • Managing and growing the publisher's ecommerce strategy and TikTok Shop, including product listings, creator partnerships, promotions, and performance tracking
  • Running Amazon advertising campaigns (AMS) end to end: strategy, setup, optimization, reporting, and budget management
  • Building social media and influencer strategies for individual titles and author brands to drive engagement and grow readership
  • Collaborating with editorial, sales, and publicity teams on cohesive campaigns, promotions, and cross-functional communication
  • Coaching authors on platform best practices and audience growth strategies
  • Overseeing the Publicity Associate to keep publicity plans aligned with overall marketing strategy for each title
  • Using market research and analytics to spot trends, optimize campaigns, and refine target audiences
  • Presenting marketing plans for all titles at Sales Conference
  • Optimizing Amazon A+ content and product listings for search and discoverability

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in book marketing or digital marketing, with hands-on management of organic social and influencer programs
  • Deep working knowledge of Amazon Ads (AMS), Meta Ads, and email marketing platforms like Mailchimp or Klaviyo
  • Proven experience with social commerce, including TikTok Shop
  • Strong writing, communication, and project management skills
  • Highly organized and comfortable managing multiple campaigns simultaneously
  • A real passion for books and a solid understanding of the publishing industry
