Key Responsibilities of Chief Marketing Officer with a Healthcare Tech Firm - Nashville, TN
Marketing & Brand Strategy
Develop and execute a cohesive, data-informed marketing and brand strategy that drives brand awareness, establishes thought leadership, and generates significant demand within target market segments.
Executive Leadership
Serve as a key member of the executive team, contributing to overall company strategy, resource allocation, and long-term planning. Report directly to the CEO and present marketing performance, strategy, and budget to the executive team and Board of Directors.
Demand Generation
Design and implement a multi-channel demand generation engine to fuel the sales pipeline with high-quality leads. Oversee all aspects of digital marketing, including SEO, SEM, content marketing, email marketing, social media, and account-based marketing (ABM) campaigns.
Content & Product Marketing
Lead the development of compelling content and product marketing materials, including whitepapers, case studies, webinars, website content, and sales enablement tools. Ensure a clear and consistent articulation of the product's value proposition.
Brand Stewardship

Public & Analyst Relations
Develop and manage the company's public relations and analyst relations strategy to secure positive media coverage, build relationships with key industry influencers, and achieve favorable rankings in analyst reports.
Budget Management
Develop and manage the annual marketing budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources to maximize impact and achieve strategic objectives. Provide regular reporting on budget performance and campaign ROI.
Market Intelligence
Conduct ongoing market research and competitive analysis to identify market trends, customer needs, and strategic opportunities. Use these insights to refine marketing strategies and inform product development.
Go-to-Market Strategy
Collaborate with Sales, Product, and Customer Success teams to develop and execute integrated go-to-market strategies for new products, features, and market expansions.
Technology Stack Oversight
Oversee the selection, implementation, and optimization of the marketing technology stack (e.g., CRM, marketing automation, analytics platforms) to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness.
Strategic Partnerships
Identify and cultivate strategic partnerships with other organizations, associations, and influencers to extend brand reach and generate new business opportunities.
Requirements for the Chief Marketing Officer with a Healthcare Tech Firm - Nashville, TN
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of 15 years of progressive marketing experience, with at least 7 years in a senior leadership role (VP or CMO) within a B2B technology company.
- Demonstrable experience marketing and selling complex SaaS solutions specifically to the healthcare industry (e.g., hospitals, health systems, payers, large provider groups).
- Proven track record of developing and executing successful marketing strategies that have driven significant revenue growth and market share expansion in a high-growth environment.
- Extensive experience in building and leading high-performing, multi-disciplinary marketing teams.
- Deep expertise across the full marketing stack, including demand generation, digital marketing, product marketing, content strategy, brand management, and communications.
- Strong financial acumen with experience managing multi-million dollar budgets and a proven ability to measure and report on marketing ROI.
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and build consensus at all levels of the organization, including the C-suite and board.
Preferred Qualifications
- MBA or other advanced degree is highly preferred.
- Experience in a private equity (PE) or venture capital (VC) backed company is a significant plus.
- Deep understanding of modern healthcare marketing strategies and the unique regulatory environment (e.g., HIPAA compliance in marketing).
- Experience taking a company through a significant growth phase, from ~$20M to $100M+ ARR.
- Established network of contacts within the healthcare and healthcare technology industries.
- Hands-on experience with marketing automation platforms (e.g., HubSpot, Marketo) and CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce).
- Resides in or is willing to relocate to the greater Nashville, TN area.
