Role: E-Commerce Shopify Developer

Position Type: Contract

Job Description

We are seeking a talented E-Commerce Shopify Developer to enhance our client's online retail presence. This position is ideal for a candidate with a robust skill set in both front-end and back-end development, focusing on creating exceptional online shopping experiences.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 4+ years of full-stack e-commerce development experience with a portfolio that demonstrates expertise in custom Shopify theme development and intricate backend integrations (Shopify Plus experience preferred).
  • Expertise in Shopify Liquid, vanilla JavaScript, CSS preprocessors/frameworks (such as Sass or Tailwind), and a strong eye for design.
  • Proficiency in backend programming (Node.js, Python, Ruby, or PHP) for building secure middleware and custom applications.
  • Comprehensive understanding of RESTful APIs, GraphQL, OAuth authentication, and webhooks.
  • Familiarity with Git version control, Shopify CLI, and CI/CD workflows for seamless theme updates.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Headless Commerce frameworks (e.g., Shopify Hydrogen, Next.js, React).
  • Background in A/B testing using tools like Google Optimize, Optimizely, or VWO.
  • Proven experience integrating with enterprise systems in the retail sector, such as NetSuite ERP.

Key Responsibilities

Front-End UI/UX & Storefront Development

  • Transform high-fidelity wireframes and mockups from tools like Figma or Adobe XD into highly responsive Shopify themes using Liquid, HTML5, CSS3, and modern JavaScript.
  • Optimize user experience by implementing e-commerce best practices to enhance the buyer journey, streamline checkout processes, and boost conversion rates.
  • Create engaging micro-animations and intuitive navigation while ensuring adherence to WCAG accessibility standards and mobile-first principles.

Back-End Architecture & API Integrations

  • Design and implement custom data pipelines using Shopify's Admin and Storefront APIs to connect the storefront with external ERPs and fulfillment systems.
  • Develop and maintain secure middleware solutions utilizing webhooks for real-time syncing of inventory, orders, and customer data.
  • Create private/custom Shopify apps to fulfill complex business logic that standard marketplace apps cannot accommodate.
  • Manage API rate limits, optimize data payloads, and ensure backend scalability during high-traffic sales events.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead technical integrations and create user-friendly interfaces that enhance conversion rates for our client's e-commerce storefront. If you have the passion and skills to make a significant impact in the e-commerce space, we encourage you to apply!
