Job Summary
The Digital Marketing & Social Media Student will play a key role in supporting WSPS’ digital presence throughout the term. This role focuses on social media content creation, strategy development, campaign execution, and performance reporting, while also contributing to general digital marketing activities such as email marketing and advertising support.
Responsibilities
1. Social Media Support
- Assist with daily management of WSPS social media channels, including scheduling posts, monitoring activity, and engaging with audiences.
- Create compelling, on-brand content for platforms such as LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube.
- Support the execution of social media campaigns aligned with organizational goals.
2. Social Media Strategy Development
- Contribute to the development of social media strategies that support WSPS’ brand and campaigns.
- Participate in planning sessions to identify audiences, key messages, and content themes.
- Support the full lifecycle of social media initiatives, from concept development to execution and community engagement.
- Track campaign performance and provide insights to inform future strategies.
3. Content Creation
- Develop visual and written content using tools such as Canva.
- Collaborate with the MarCom teams to brainstorm and produce new content ideas.
- Ensure all content aligns with WSPS brand guidelines and messaging.
4. General Digital Marketing Support
- Assist with updating and maintaining website content to ensure clarity and accuracy.
- Support email marketing activities, including drafting newsletters and promotional messages.
- Help coordinate digital advertising efforts by preparing creative assets and monitoring campaign performance.
- Ensure consistency across all digital channels and campaigns.
5. Analytics & Reporting
- Track social media and campaign performance metrics and compile regular updates.
- Analyze engagement trends and audience behaviour.
- Provide insights and recommendations to optimize content and campaign performance.
6. Contributing to a Healthy & Safe Work Environment (at all times)
- Follow all WSPS Health & Safety policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Promote a respectful, safe, and inclusive workplace culture.
- Comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and related regulations.
Skills, Knowledge, Expertise
Minimum
- Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program in Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, or a related field.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience creating or managing content for social media platforms.
- Proficiency with Canva or similar design tools.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks.
- Creative, proactive, and eager to learn in a fast-paced digital environment.
- Video production experience an asset.
Preferred
- Previous related working experience considered an asset
- Familiarity with AEO, SEO, and GEO optimization strategies.
- Basic video editing skills using tools such as Adobe Premiere Pro, CapCut, or similar.
- Basic understanding of AI concepts and how they can improve digital marketing systems and frameworks.
- Passion for social media and community building, with a strong sense of creativity and cultural awareness.
- Interest in internal and external influencer collaboration.
