We are seeking a strategic and highly collaborative Senior Marketing Specialist, to lead complex, high-value pursuits and drive marketing initiatives that support business growth across multiple offices and service lines. Partnering closely with technical staff, business development, and marketing leadership, this role drives the development of strategic, high-quality proposals, presentations, and client-focused materials that reflect the firm’s brand and expertise. This role requires strong critical thinking, research, writing, editing and content management capabilities.
In addition to managing pursuit efforts, the Senior Marketing Specialist manages special projects and contributes to regional and national marketing initiatives, helping to enhance tools, templates, and processes that improve quality and efficiency. As a senior member of the regional marketing team, this individual provides guidance and mentorship to peers and junior staff, sharing best practices and fostering collaboration in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Responsibilities
  • Manage complex proposal efforts from kick-off to completion, including support of the win strategy, outline creation, content development, layout, and production.
  • Conduct market and client research, gather competitive intelligence, and provide insights to inform go/no-go decisions and pursuit strategies.
  • Lead high-profile or multi-discipline proposal efforts, including federal, state, DOT, municipal, and other strategic opportunities.
  • Take the lead in writing, collaboratively developing, and organizing customized, persuasive, and client-focused content that differentiates the firm’s expertise and value.
  • Partner with technical and business development leaders to develop win strategies and messaging that align with the firm’s goals.
  • Ensure quality, compliance, and brand consistency across proposals, qualifications, presentations, and other marketing deliverables.
  • Provide QA/QC reviews and mentor Marketing Coordinators and Specialists, offering feedback, training, and guidance to support their professional growth.
  • Manage special projects such as conference materials, strategic campaigns, and qualifications programs that enhance firm visibility and positioning.
  • Proactively recommend creative solutions and contribute to regional and firmwide marketing initiatives and opportunities to strengthen marketing tools, templates, processes, content, and knowledge sharing.
  • Maintain advanced proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Microsoft Office, and other marketing technology platforms.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Technical Writing, English, Journalism, Graphic Design, Business Administration or related field.
  • 7+ years proposal writing experience in A/E/C or professional services industry.
  • In lieu of degree 8+ years of related experience.
  • Manage multiple projects and competing priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Be the storyteller: Craft clear, persuasive, and client-centered messaging through both independent and collaborative writing and editing.
  • Interpret and effectively communicate highly technical topics to non-technical audiences.
  • Develop and apply a deep understanding of CED's markets, divisions, disciplines, and project portfolios to develop compelling, client-focused materials.
  • Ensure quality and consistency across deliverables through expert QA/QC review.
  • Research clients, competitors, and the market to inform pursuit strategy and positioning.
  • Demonstrate expert-level understanding of marketing and business development principles, proposal strategy and production processes.
  • Exhibit strong leadership, mentorship, and organizational influence within the marketing team and across departments.
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe InDesign, CRM systems, and proposal management tools, ensuring compliance and efficiency.
  • Participate in industry events and professional organizations to stay informed about the A/E/C industry and build connections.
  • Ability to read, write and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
Compensation: $74,800 to $108,500 per year (depending on qualifications)
